• Develops briefings at program level, tracks data/claims trends, improvements, and claims resolutions to identify areas of potential improvements and best practices.
• Utilizes various claims and transportation automated systems in order to resolve issues and answer claimants questions.
• Investigates and develops supporting evidence for loss and damage claims arising from storage and movement of personal property and makes recommendations for use in affixing responsibility and settlement of claims.
• Determines and advises customers on entitlements or procedures related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances; prohibited items; and shipment of personal property including various methods available.
• Plans, books, and routes personal property, estimates cost savings, time involved, time of arrival, storage in transit involved, and purposes.
• Prepares and process various applications for transportation or storage of a wide range of personal property and privately owned vehicles, including special items, of authorized civilian and military members.
• Makes detailed cost comparisons to determine the best and most economical method of movement, and screens movement documents for correct accounting data.

Duties:

Major duties and responsibilities include:

· Receiving work assignments and direction regarding work methods, procedures and schedules from either the Transportation Coordinator and/or the Mobility Manager.

· Arriving at and departing from pickup and discharge points at scheduled times.

· Reading installation maps and judges road/traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safest route.

· Enforcing passenger safety and seatbelt use.

· Using multiple variations of Mobile Data Computer (MDC) in and out of the vehicles for assigned trips and duties daily.

· Loading and unloading patients and medical supplies.

· Performing operator maintenance such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation.

· Maintaining records and document actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports.

· Using two-way radios (or other device) to maintain communications with dispatcher/supervisor on assignments and locations.

· Possessing Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement is required for the position.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.

The primary purpose of this position is to as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer position, to serve as an assistant to the Maintenance Group Commander and as such, reviews policy and assists the Senior ART/Maintenance Group (MXG) Commander in planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling all activities and operations of the Maintenance Group. Incumbent receives experience, training, and instruction in providing overall staff direction to all Maintenance Group programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. In conjunction with the MXG Senior Art/Commander plans, direct, organizes, manages, and provides oversight for activities in the Maintenance Group. Responsible to the Maintenance Group Senior ART/Commander in integrating, and executing all aspects of the assigned maintenance activities/programs within cost, schedule, performance and/or system supportability requirements.
2. Represents the Maintenance Group Commander at a variety of installation and functional area organizational meetings. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other group commanders, representatives and senior staff at Numbered Air Force, HQ AFRC, gaining MAJCOMs, and Air Staff.
3. Ensures effective operation of the aircraft maintenance complex. Make periodic and comprehensive assessment of program through a review of performance indicators, productivity goals and accomplishments, deficiency reports, audit findings, etc.
4. Accomplishes special staff studies, projects and initiatives resulting from legislative and regulatory changes, reengineering efforts, new technology, privatization, program/mission changes, etc. Identifies the need for studies, establishes goals and objectives, and designates working group(s) as needed.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Reviewing for accuracy and processing Beneficiary Travel claims for the purpose of reimbursing Veterans for travel to and from VA medical appointments
• Reviewing eligibility of each Veteran before finalizing Beneficiary Travel reimbursements
• Researching payments for reimbursement when requested by Veterans, Supervisor or the Mobility Manager and coordinating with the Fiscal office when required
• Preparing data processing reports and auditing Beneficiary Travel vouchers daily batch for errors
• Transferring Beneficiary Travel voucher daily batch to Fiscal office
• Compiling and submitting daily clerk report summarizing all vouchers processed, phone calls, and customer service interactions
• Arranging all modes of transportation via air ambulance, commercial air, taxi, ambulance, bus, and/or contracted transport services
• Preparing appropriate documentation and/or scheduling for traveler according to government rates or substantial rates
• Making special arrangements per physician documentation according to traveler's medical condition and/or preference with a high priority emphasis on organ transplant patients, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury patients
• Documenting and preparing statistical ambulance reports to supervisor upon request for fiscal year budget
• Corresponding with ambulance service provider regarding technical problems
• Maintaining and controlling filing system in accordance with VA regulations
• When required, preparing reports for cab service to determine annual, local mobility usage
• Assuring that all appropriate VA forms are used correctly, and regulations followed.
• Determining method of payment for authorized and unauthorized ambulance claims submitted for consideration
• Receiving invoices for payment of transportation services
• Investigating authorizations, orders, and/or utilizing the Computerized Patient Record System to review medical records, forwarding for clinician review and supervisory approval and submitting all documents for payment utilizing appropriate control point for reference
• Responsible for forwarding all invoices certified for payment to Financial Management Service for processing
• Acting as liaison between vendors and FMS for invoices pending payment
• Responsible for other related duties, as assigned by HAS leadership
