Directs a highly technical workforce that provides either air traffic control services and/or tactical and strategic support. The Operations Manager reports to the Air Traffic Manager. Performance is evaluated upon the effectiveness with which assigned program objectives are achieved.

Supervises a staff of Air Traffic Control Specialists that is responsible for carrying out air traffic control assignments within a geographic area.

Salary Information: The salary range for Traverse City, MI (TVC - Cherry Capital Airport) is $44,795 to $55,231 or $21.46 to $26.46 per hour and includes locality pay of 16.82%.

This Transportation Security Officer position is located in Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Transportation Security Officer (TSOs) within Security Operations (SO), you will provide security and protection of air travelers, airports and aircraft in a courteous and professional manner. Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Operating various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo and on passengers, and preventing those objects from being transported onto aircraft.
• Performing searches and screening, which may include physical interaction with passengers (e.g., pat-downs, search of property, etc.), conducting bag searches and lifting/carrying bags, bins, and property weighing up to 50lbs.
• Controlling terminal entry and exit points.
• Interacting with the public, giving directions and responding to inquiries.
• Maintaining focus and awareness while working in a stressful environment which includes noise from alarms, machinery and people, crowd distractions, time pressure, and disruptive and angry passengers, in order to preserve the professional ability to identify and locate potentially life threatening or mass destruction devices, and to make effective decisions in both crisis and routine situations.

Serves as Subject Matter Expert and Senior System Administrator for a group of engineers and/or computer specialists responsible for software, hardware, technical documentation, scientific and direct engineering support essential to the safe and reliable operation of systems within the NAS/ CBP/DHS/DoD/ Forrest Services. This position will be responsible for coordinating efforts and advising the allocation of resources, providing input to employee performance and/or conduct and discipline issues, setting team and project priorities, assigning and monitoring tasks, establishing standard technical solutions, and mentoring and developing employees.

Applies in-depth information technology knowledge and expertise to plan and conduct projects/ programs requiring independent judgment and the ability to coordinate difficult and/or critical activities.
