Job Description

We are seeking 2 Research Fellow (RF) positions to carry out research activities in a multidisciplinary topic to understand the physics of 2D materials based electric contact, photonics and electronics over a wide range of conditions. The activities include one or more of the following topics.

1. Multidimensional modeling of AC contact resistance for vertical and edge contact.
2. Quantum effects in Maxwell equations in nanometer scale dimensions
3. Quantum transport of 2D materials under light-matter excitation
4. DFT modeling of metal-insulator transitions at different temperatures
5. Photoemission and light-matter interaction of 2D materials

Job Requirements

Applicants for this RF position should have at least a PhD degree (within 3 years) in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or Material Science. The preferences are for candidates who have significant research experience with good publication records. The technical requirements are:

• Strong skill in mathematical modelling and numerical methods
• Strong in quantum mechanics, solid-state physics, and Maxwell equations
• Experience in using simulation software.

Position Summary

The Nestle Purina Petcare R&D Singapore team is a part of a global Petcare R&D network with existing footprints in North America, Europe, and Asia. The Petcare R&D Singapore team will be co-located with Nestle Purina Petcare AOA business office, and provide direct support to the commercial, technical and operational partners.

As a Senior Scientist, you will be part of the cross functional team in an international environment; particularly in developing food solutions to enhance eating experiences for pet enjoyment and deeper connections with pet owners. Your main responsibilities will be to lead the R&D activities to develop and industrialize innovations developed by the global R&D network, to produce in manufacturing locations in AOA, and ensuring competitive advantage in Nestle Purina Petcare products and technologies.

A day in the life of…

• Plan, organize and perform the necessary trials and experiments (bench-top, pilot plant, and factory scale) as required to deliver the process and product development projects that meet the requirements of the client companies and GSBU and are delivered in a timely manner
• Provide product/process expertise and assistance within the Center and externally (e.g., with Marketing, Manufacturing, Divisional Engineering, Technical Applications, other R&D centers, vendors, etc) as required on a wide variety of projects
• Function as a project team leader as assigned. Required activities include, but are not limited to:Providing effective project leadership for the projects assigned
  Fulfilling all requirements of the Product Development Process and I2L regarding deliverables for each phase
  Complete all required documentation and project reporting in a timely manner
  Adherence to Company policy on protection of patent rights and intellectual property
  Ensuring all appropriate documents and project records are filed in the Central Project Files, whether paper or electronic
  
• Participate and contribute as a member of a cross-functional team. Actively drive product and process conceptualization, development and scale-up. Interface on a project implementation team by assisting with hand-off from development to start-up and providing operational training as required.
• Provide “technical” training as required to operating company personnel
• Effectively communicate results through oral presentations and timely, written technical documentation and reports
• Conduct all activity in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all required Company policies and procedures
• Align with other Purina R&D sites and Zone Application Groups as needed.
• Practice safety in the work area. Engage in and execute the safety practices of the organization.
• Proven ability and willingness to mentor and guide the less experienced technical staff
• Develop Nestle Purina’s core competence in all areas of product development

• Propose projects utilizing technical innovations that may be applicable to Nestlé Purina business strategy

What will make you successful

• B.S. in Science or Engineering, MSc or PHD Food Science, Animal Science, Engineering, Nutrition preferred
• A minimum of 5 years’ R&D experience, preferably in food or pet food category
• Project Management experience in competitive and complex environment
• Must be able to manage multiple projects/priorities
• Excellent product development skills including strong ingredient knowledge and a solid understanding of nutrition and unit processes
• Good consumer understanding and stays abreast of consumer and competitor trends, experience with customer tests
• Manufacturing quality, process and lean manufacturing principles
• Proven communication and interpersonal skills, ability to influence and drive business decisions
• Proven ability to create original, differentiating technology and apply technical knowledge to meet business needs

Job Title: Research Assistant (Design Innovator) in the Design Innovation team of SUTD

Description:
As a Design Innovator, you will play an important role in the successful realisation of DI projects and programs. Key components of the job are design competencies, in particular those involving users, user needs, conceptual design, prototyping, industrial design, analytical design, digital design, data-driven design, and user validation, and the ability to liaise with internal and external partners and stakeholders on a regular basis.

You will be part of the Design Innovation team and are expected to contribute to its vision, aims and programs - Design Education, Design Guidance, and Design Incubation – as well as design research, with an emphasis on Design Guidance. You are also expected to participate in SUTD events, support the organization, and support the work of other members of the DI team, as and when required.

Design Guidance Projects

• Support and/or co-lead projects contributing industrial design, design engineering, systems design or product-service-systems development skillset.
• Mentoring and co-creating in innovation projects with public and private external partners and teams.
• Depending on background and skill sets, develop user experiences (UX), user interfaces, digital solutions, and data-driven solutions for and with external and internal partners.

Design Innovation Workshops and Education, Embedding Design

• Work with the DI Director to engage key stakeholders.
• Facilitate Design Innovation workshops and educational modules.
• Grow into role lead facilitator or co-lead for workshops.
• Develop Design Innovation content for delivery in workshops and education modules.
• Engage external partners to embed, catalyze, and grow design in their organizations.

Skillset:

Industrial Design:

• Develop concepts and prototypes for physical products, considering aesthetics, ergonomics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Conduct research on user needs, market trends, and competitor analysis to inform design decisions.
• Create detailed technical drawings and specifications for product development.

UX-UI Design:

• Design intuitive and user-friendly digital interfaces for web and mobile applications.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to inform design iterations.
• Develop wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes to visualize and validate design concepts.
• Collaborate with software developers to implement UI designs with attention to technical feasibility.

Visual Communication Design:

• Create visually compelling graphics, illustrations, and branding materials that align with brand identity and target audience.
• Design marketing materials, promotional assets, packaging, and presentations to effectively communicate ideas.
• Ensure consistency and coherence in visual language across various platforms and media.

Adobe Suite Proficiency:

• Leverage your expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, etc.) to execute high-quality designs efficiently.

• Provide general support to the Design Innovation Team
• Undertake and perform other duties as assigned
• Be involved with partners in pre-workshop/project meetings, discussions and proposals

Requirements:

• You should possess a degree and have practical design experience in areas of relevance to Design Innovation.
• You should be able to work to strict deadlines, apply a user-centred design approach with rigor, deliver high quality studies, concepts and prototypes, and work on multiple projects in parallel.
• You must enjoy being creative and working with a variety of people, have a passion for design, not be afraid to take on challenging tasks, and eager to learn new competencies. The ideal individual will have strong written, visual and verbal communication skills.
