Applications are invited from charismatic, enthusiastic and suitably qualified teachers for this exciting, and rewarding post within our Science department. We particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups, as we seek to ensure our staff body reflects the diversity of our student population. The postholder will be expected to teach KS3-4 Science and will need to have the ability to teach, or the desire to learn how to teach either Biology or Chemistry at KS5. We welcome applications from newly qualified and experienced teachers.
Bristol Cathedral Choir School is an academy that specialises in Music. The academy became part of the Cathedral Schools Trust (a Multi Academy Trust) in 2016. It serves students from all over Bristol and welcomes those of all faiths and none. We are proud of our diverse, tolerant and respectful community, which reflects Bristol’s demographic.
With a comprehensive intake, students present with a large range of additional educational needs. The proportion of students with an EHCP is well above the national average. Similarly the school welcomes a significant number of children who are looked after or previously looked after.
The Sixth Form has approximately 425 students, many of whom join in Year 12 from other schools. Levels of attainment are high. The majority of students progress to university, including Russell group institutions and Oxbridge.

This includes a comprehensive programme for newly and recently qualified teachers, as well as catering for more experienced colleagues to support career progression.

The Science Department
The sciences are very successful at BCCS, both in regard to uptake at A level (AQA) and external examination results. As well as seeing many BCCS students progress to Sciences at KS5, the school is privileged to welcome a large cohort of Scientists from schools all across Bristol and South Glos for KS5. As a result, there are many KS5 A Level classes in each science discipline and all teachers in the department benefit from teaching KS5 as well as KS3 and KS4.
The Science team is made up of well-qualified, friendly, committed, subject specialists, who enjoy working collaboratively. The school values practical work in science education; the department is well supported by three highly skilled and experienced technicians.
In Years 7 and 8 students are taught seven hours of Science a fortnight as a combined subject. From Year 9, students begin studying the GCSE course. A large number of students in KS4 study Separate Science GCSEs (AQA). Other students study GCSE Combined Science Trilogy (AQA).
