Role Summary

Pfizer’s Machine Learning Hub is seeking a passionate, creative, and experienced machine learning researcher to design and implement new machine learning tools to accelerate drug discovery. As a member of our Machine Learning Research team, you will design new approaches to derive insights from Pfizer’s proprietary data and external datasets to generate testable hypotheses across the drug discovery continuum with a focus on extracting biological knowledge. The individual will also design, establish, and manage internal and external collaborations to advance Pfizer’s ML capabilities. The ideal candidate should have an outstanding scientific reputation in the field of machine learning research for computational biology and a demonstrated passion for solving biological problems relevant to drug discovery. Our team is located in Cambridge, MA, USA and Berlin, Germany and this role can accommodate an exceptional candidate in either location.

Role Responsibilities

Principal downstream application domains include indication expansion, target identification, disease mechanism elucidation, and partnering with practitioners in these areas to advance the state-of-the-art.

• Development and implementation of advanced machine learning models specifically designed for analyzing heterogeneous biological data. This includes data from genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other biological sources.
• Advance the internal machine learning tech stack to cope with spurious correlation, obscuring variation and inherent multimodality of biomedical, chemical, and ‘omics data
• Research, design and implement learning algorithms for analysis problems related to drug discovery
• Be an active member of a highly interdisciplinary team
• Conceive, execute and evaluate studies and experiments, interpret the results and present them to scientist in other functions
• Strengthen external visibility and scientific excellence through publishing / presenting work in reputed journals and conference/workshop venues and engaging with the scientific community

Qualifications

• Formal training in Biology, Computational Biology, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related technical discipline
• PhD and 2+ years of relevant research experience in developing machine/deep learning-based solutions and a sincere interest for computational life sciences
• Hands-on experience in handling, processing, integrating, and analyzing large heterogenous biological data sets related to industrial drug discovery research (e.g., sc/snRNAseq, ATAC-seq, genomics, proteomics, etc.)
• Proven expertise in developing machine learning for computational biology
• Highly creative person with outstanding problem-solving skills to tackle complex analysis tasks in a timely fashion
• Strong publication record and demonstrated contributions to the field
• Solid expertise with ML libraries such as PyTorch, Lightning is mandatory! Programming skills in Python must be top-notch. Experience with relevant libraries of the Python scientific stack is a big plus.
• Familiarity with GPU computing both on-premises and on cloud platforms
• Fluency with common version control tools and collaborative coding
• Passion and curiosity for data and proven ability to take ideas from prototype to production

A Senior Principal Scientist in Analytical Research and Development plays an important role during all phases of pharmaceutical development. The qualified candidate will take an active role by leading the analytical development strategies and performing and directing lab work for new drug candidates. The candidate will work with cross-functional development teams and apply a variety of analytical methodologies to support physical and chemical characterization of drug substances and products. How You Will Achieve It  

•  As a project analyst, the candidate will be responsible for developing analytical strategies in support of pharmaceutical drug products during all development phases, including supporting manufacturing process development, developing, validating and transferring analytical methods, designing stability studies to understand drug degradation mechanisms and for shelf life assignments, and developing impurity control strategies.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Internal Medicine Research Unit (IMRU) is committed to finding cures for metabolic diseases and related complications. Our goal is to build a research team of driven scientists focused on developing a deep mechanistic understanding of the metabolic pathways driving obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and renal disease. Apply scientific and technical expertise to drug discovery programs to impact the future of new drug candidate development. The aim is to recruit a scientifically and technically strong research scientist proficient in in vivo and in vitro metabolic research models, with the ultimate goal of developing effective therapies.
 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceptualize and design experiments.

• Organize and conduct in vitro/ in vivo/ ex vivo studies independently (including preparation, data collection, interpretation, and presentation).

• Maintain awareness of scientific and technical developments in the field.

• Author manuscripts for quality publications in top-tier journals.

• Expertise in cell biology and physiology with emphasis on metabolism and signaling pathways is essential.

• Experience working with GPCRs and associated pathways is a plus but not required.

• A successful track record of scientific achievements through scientific publications and presentations.

Dow has an exciting job opportunity for a Senior Research & Development (R&D) Technician in the Reaction Engineering discipline within Core R&D Engineering and Process Science in Freeport, Texas

The Reaction Engineering lab conducts experimental research using automated tubular, fixed bed, and stirred tank systems equipped with various analytical techniques from on-line gas chromatography, in situ Raman and FTIR to heat flow calorimetry. Partnerships with Business R&D and manufacturing provide a consistent flow of new challenging projects across an array of process technologies.
This role is in the Lake Jackson Texas Innovation Center, E.C. Britton building and you will partner with Reaction Engineers and the leadership applying exceptional mechanical skills to conduct research with variety of reactor systems. You will be a self-starter with attention to detail and is eager to learn new areas of laboratory reactors and analytical equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Works as part of a team in a laboratory supporting engineers in developing, screening and commercializing new processes. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, manage timelines, and interact effectively with numerous team members of diverse background is critical.
• Manages and then safely executes laboratory work requests, building, maintaining, operating and troubleshooting relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment and documenting data in Electronic Lab Notebook.
• Develops experimental plans for review/approval by project leader and executes approved plans by performing routine and non-standard tasks or procedures of higher complexity.
•  Achieves project goals using technical, role-specific skills and experience, and introduces new procedures for new instrument methods, equipment changes, or new equipment.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot packaging equipment.
• Monitor, evaluate, and adjust processes or packaging equipment to maximize quality and efficiency.
• Operate equipment that packages materials or products by inserting them into containers or filling containers from spouts or chutes.
• Complete the batch records and associated documentation
• Work in a coordinated, computerized manufacturing environment. Tasks are performed in accordance with applicable safety guidelines, as well as appropriate processing standards. Tasks are completed in compliance with all regulatory requirements
• May participate in program or functional team projects developing process improvement methods, solutions, and procedures to improve program quality, cost, and scheduling

Leidos Innovations Center is looking for a senior research scientist in formal methods and cyber-physical systems who has experience in developing state-of-the-art automated reasoning technologies that enable production of high-assurance software and software-intensive systems.

Primary Responsibilities

The senior research scientist will serve in the role of senior of chief scientist on contract R&D programs, engaging or supporting the engagement of customers to develop new business opportunities and leading teams of researchers and engineers in the development, adaptation, and extension of innovative approaches and solutions in automated reasoning applied research. The focus of this research is the generation of assurance evidence for critical software, at scale.

The innovative technical solutions will advance the state of the art while addressing long-term problems of importance to national security.  As such, strong candidates will have successful, proven, and demonstrable experience winning and contributing to proposals and winning competitive CRAD efforts and then leading high-performing teams in the development and integration of software-based solutions for customers such as DARPA and other branches of the Department of Defense.

Basic Qualifications

• M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field with at least 6 years of industrial/academic experience making significant contributions to formal verification, developing technologies such as program analysis, constraint-solving, symbolic execution, or theorem proving. Ph.D. in technical domain above is preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience with programming languages such as Java, Scala, C/C++, Ruby, Rust, or Python
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience:
  • applying formal methods, using technologies such as theorem provers for first-order logic and higher-order logic, proof assistants, solvers, or other automated reasoning tools and/or
  • conducting applied research areas of CPS such as autonomous vehicles, smart sensors, or Internet of Things, fusing data collected from cyber and physical systems to develop novel approaches to address emerging technical challenges in domains relevant to U.S. national security.
• Qualified candidates must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance with potential eligibility for Top Secret (no clearance needed to start).

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or in areas related to low-level systems, software correctness
• Experience applying the application of formal methods in fundamental research contexts, to problems in complex domains, under conditions of uncertainty, and dynamic and evolving technical challenges
• Demonstrable experience extending formal methods tools for new challenges
• Experience proposing, winning, and executing work with customers such as DARPA
