We are currently seeking an interim Research Immunologist to work with our global FMCG client, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, to become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based at Kings College, London. This is a full-time temporary role for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £56,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.

BACKGROUND

The Science and Technology (S&T) pillar is charged with the delivery of breakthrough technologies and differentiated innovations to meet the needs of our consumers around the world, developing new functional ingredients for our leading brands. Human Biology (HB) is a Science and Technology Platform investigating the biological mechanisms that underpin key consumer phenotypes leading to the generation of new technologies for the next generation of personal care products and providing novel insights to support superior claims in the marketplace.

A UL Bioscience Hub has been established at Kings College London, with UL scientists based at Guys Campus. The main purpose of this Hub is to enable UL scientists to work alongside globally recognised experts in the Bioscience field, allowing access to world leading scientific expertise and technical capability.

An opportunity has arisen in the S&T Human Biology team for a PhD-qualified scientist to join our team at Kings College London, reporting to the Bioscience Hub leader & senior scientist for a 12-month maternity cover contract. The role is ideally suited to a self-motivated, resourceful research scientist with ability to work on their own initiative and with strong people and communication skills. A background in immunology is essential with a knowledge of skin biology highly desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Programme support: As part of the HB S&T programme, provide immunology expertise to support all project workstreams. Undertake lab-based research to identify new insights, targets & technology for relevant categories.
• External networks and resources: Leverage the best of both academia and industry, including assessing and working with independent service providers, to support the development of new technologies. Contribute to building the new KCL Hub and establishing an effective scouting network within the University.
• Science capability build: Support internal efforts to build knowledge and expertise in the area of skin immunology. Actively evaluate new science capabilities, establish relevant capabilities into practice and assist in alignment with relevant UL programmes.
• Business relationships: Build and maintain effective working relationships with project teams in Human Biology, Human Microbiome and business category stakeholders in UL.
• People/Skills Development: Be proactive, self-motivated, with ability to work on their own initiative and with strong communication skills, for delivering the immunology focussed Human Biology agenda and exploiting the opportunities of the KCL hub.

ALL ABOUT YOU

• A degree in a biological based subject is essential. A PhD, or equivalent experience, with a strong emphasis in human immunology is preferred. Experience of skin biology/immunology would be ideal, or other host-microbial interface such as hair and oral mucosa.
• Proven ability to handle primary cells, particularly immune cells, is preferred. Experience of co-culture systems, 3D models, histological analysis of immune biomarkers, and experience of managing tissue in accordance with the UK Human Tissue Act would be an added advantage.
• Omic measurements (e.g. RNAseq, proteomics etc) of cells and/or tissues and bioinformatic analyses thereof using R and/or other software platforms is desirable. Knowledge of single cell and/or spatial transcriptomic techniques is an added advantage.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external partners for new technology development, as well as initiating new partnerships
• Ability to effectively balance multiple concurrent activities and deliver to established deadlines.
• A strong interest in translational research and industrial R&D; the direct experience of delivering a research agenda in an industrial setting would be an added advantage.
• Fluent spoken and written English.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer globally. Development of therapeutic strategies targeting novel cell types is the need of the hour for CRC treatment. We are looking for candidates keen on working at the intersection of cancer biology, imaging, spatial omics and computational biology to correlate results from cutting-edge technologies to clinical outcome of colorectal cancer (CRC). They should be comfortable working in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that includes biologists, imaging technologists, pathologists and medical oncologists. This will be a unique opportunity to work on new data types and ask new questions in the rapidly growing field of spatial multi-omics.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and talented research assistant/associate to work on research focusing on identifying novel therapies for treatment of acute myeloid leukemia in the laboratory of Dr Shruti Bhatt at the NUS (http://pharmacy.nus.edu.sg/tenure-track-faculty/). The candidate will be an integral member of our research team and will work under the direct supervision of Dr Shruti Bhatt (https://pharmacy.nus.edu.sg/team/asst-prof-shruti-bhatt/) to support ongoing studies including identifying clinical response to targeted therapy in leukemia using BH3 profiling. Opportunity to perform high-throughut chemical screens on cell lines and patient-derived tumor cells. We are looking to hire someone who is interested in doing wet lab experiments. The candidate will be trained in the lab however, prior experience will be given first preference.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

a) Research tasks: 90%

• To perform cell-based assay such as apoptosis, cytoxociity, cell proliferation, immunophenotyping, BH3 profiling.
• Processing of human primary leukemia samples to isolate mononuclear cells and process for flow cytometry.

Qualifications

Qualifications / Discipline:

Job Description

The Global Centre for Asian Women’s Health (GloW) aims to build a global research platform for transdisciplinary endeavours to address major health concerns over a woman's lifespan and across generations. Through its main hub in Singapore, the Centre will engage in multi-disciplinary research to promote women’s health, including a series of diet and lifestyle intervention studies.

Purpose of the role

The project coordinator/manager will play a key role in dietary intervention studies by actively managing and coordinating diet and lifestyle intervention studies in GloW. Responsibilities include development, implementation and monitoring of meal plans, educating participants as needed, collecting dietary data, and performing administrative duties to ensure the studies’ success and compliance. The staff will work closely with Principal Investigators of intervention studies, collaborate closely with the research team, food service team, and other relevant stakeholders, as well as undertake other ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by the Centre’s Director as needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The staff will hold a few key responsibilities, including

(1) Intervention study coordinator:

• Recruit and interview study participants for the intervention study
• Implement methods for collecting dietary data, including detailed food intake records and compliance monitoring.
• Conduct regular assessments to evaluate participants' nutritional status and document any deviations from prescribed diets.

(2) Nutritional Intervention study monitoring:

• Monitor food/nutrient composition for meals developed for intervention study
• Collaborate with the research team to integrate nutritional components into the study design and ensure alignment with research objectives.
• Liaise and coordinate with the Food Service team, providing diet requirements, and assisting in menu and recipe development and analysis as required

Main Duties and Responsibilities

(3) Participant Education and Counseling:

Job Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Research and Development Manager at Coval Technologies in Singapore. The Research and Development Manager will be responsible for leading R&D projects, managing research teams, and overseeing project execution. They will provide team leadership and contribute to the development of innovative nano coating technologies.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years' experience with track record in formulating / developing new coating products with commercial release.
• Experience working with solvent-based paint chemistry

• Experience in industrial coating performance standards such as ISO, ASTM., etc.

• Advanced degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field preferred

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preparation and Setup:Prepare and organize laboratory materials, equipment, and samples.
   Set up laboratory apparatus for experiments and tests.
   Ensure all required chemicals, tools, and equipment are ready and functioning.
   
2. Assisting in Experiments:Assist in practical lessons in carrying out experiments and tests.
   Take measurements and record data accurately during research projects.
   Operate laboratory equipment under supervision, following safety protocols.
   
3. Sample Management:Collect, label, and store samples according to standard procedures.
   Ensure that samples are correctly handled and maintained for future analysis.
   
4. Equipment Maintenance:Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
   Ensure that all instruments are calibrated and in good working condition.
   Assist in the setup and disassembly of experiments and equipment.
   
5. Data Management:Record, compile, and process data accurately.
   Prepare reports or assist in preparing research summaries for review.
   Enter experimental data into databases or spreadsheets.
   
6. Safety and Compliance:Follow laboratory safety protocols and adhere to safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
   Handle hazardous materials and chemicals safely, with proper disposal practices.
   Assist in the maintenance of lab documentation and compliance with regulations.
   
7. Inventory and Supply Management:Monitor inventory levels of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
   Order new supplies when needed and manage stock to avoid shortages.
   

Skills and Qualifications:

• Educational Requirements: Minimum high school graduate in science stream. or equivalent is typically required; however, a postsecondary degree or certification in a scientific field (e.g., biology, chemistry, or laboratory technology) may be preferred. Retired personnal are welcome too.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with laboratory instruments and techniques is important. Basic computer skills for data entry and analysis are also necessary.
• Attention to Detail: Accurate data recording and adherence to protocols are essential.
• Communication: Ability to communicate in English.
