Serves as a Staff Support Specialist (MSS-1) at a Terminal facility. Responsible for tactical, strategic, and administrative support of multiple program areas such as training, quality control, quality assurance, traffic management, airspace and procedures, plans and programs, operational automation, military operations, special and security operations, safety management system, safety reporting and other areas of specialty identified collaboratively at the local level. The work requires a comprehensive knowledge of the ATC field and familiarization with the many integral components of the industry which comprise the National Airspace System. Specialists must have the ability to apply this knowledge to the analysis, evaluation and development of new methods, studies, approaches, and procedures. This Supervisory Transportation Security Inspector position is located in Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to provide trained and qualified Air and Space Operations Center (AOC) Command and Control (C2) warriors to augment MAJCOM deployable AOCs worldwide at the operational level of war. The state mission is to provide support to civil authorities, as directed by the Governor, for disaster relief, public safety, search and rescue, and civil defense, and Continuity of Operations. Must be trained and ready to function in a senior level position in a coalition AOC reporting to the C/JFACC at the 3-star level. Accordingly, must direct all actions that prepare unit members to perform at the operational level of war in an AOC. Responsibility to possess a working knowledge of all Air Force Weapon Systems and their capabilities, as well as a clear understanding of the systems and capabilities of other DOD components, NATO nations, and other coalition partners. This mastery level knowledge is required to sustain the development and execution of a daily Air Tasking Order for a minimum of 30 days at 500 missions per day. Due to the unique mission of the, C-MAJCOM, this PD cannot be used in any other organization.

• Determines squadron goals for long- and short-range planning and execution of all programs.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

• Provides expert advice and assistance to the Scientific Analysis (SA) Director, Laboratory Director and Deputy Laboratory Directors in Hawaii and Nebraska.

As a Theater Aerospace Operations Command and Control Specialist, GS-2101-11, you will administer refresher and advance training to ANG military AOC weapons systems positional specialists. Instruct and evaluate AOC assigned technician personnel in advanced aerospace operations applications using current AOC weapons systems of record. Instruct and evaluate enlisted AOC specialties to become instructors. Instruct same to function within established joint doctrinal principles to support the planning and prosecution of theater level joint operations. Monitor progress during training and advise when AOC personnel are ready for positional certification. Interview assigned enlisted AOC personnel to determine operational background in their respective weapons systems/specialties. Prescribe type, sequence, and extent of required training.
