The role

Our Business Support team keep things running smoothly for all of us here at Northumbria Police. They are a large team covering various services, including maintenance, health and safety, and supporting Front Line Policing. We’ve got a great opportunity to join the Business Support team as a Mobile Cleaner, where you’ll play an integral part in keeping our stations clean, safe, and functional.

Unlike your typical cleaning role, you’ll be working behind the scenes in our operational police station. You’ll take pride in your work and be part of a fantastic team who work hard to achieve great results. It’s a busy role – with a great sense of achievement at the end of each shift.

What you’ll do

Using specialist equipment and chemicals to clean washrooms and kitchens.

Vacuuming and mopping floors.

Use of floor machines will be required such as floor scrubber/dryers.

Emptying bins and other general office cleaning duties.

Maintaining up to date knowledge of health and safety legislation and complying with cleaning safety standards.

Cleaning to be completed within the custody suite, which includes, cells and medical rooms.

This is a physical role which also requires working at height.

This is a really important role in our Police Force, so we are looking for someone who takes pride in what they do.

You don’t need to have been a cleaner before – you just need a willingness to learn, the ability to work alone and as part of a team. It’s essential that you have a reasonable level of fitness and that you are punctual and reliable. A driving licence is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities Cleaning and Disinfection: Perform thorough cleaning and disinfection of allsurfaces, floor, and equipment within the critical care pharmacy room and medicinestorage areas. Following cleaning protocols for areas handling sensitive and sterile materials. Clean and disinfect high-touch areas frequently to prevent contamination Waste Management: Collect, segregate and dispose of general, pharmaceuticaland biohazardous waste according to strict safety guidelines. Ensure proper disposal methods to prevent cross-contamination and maintain asterile environment. Supply Management: Monitor inventory levels of medicine stock including fluids andfeed, ensuring timely replenishment. Communicate supply needs to the relevant personnel to avoid shortages. Daily top up of drugs on the ward where needed, saving the needs for bulk stock andensuring timely medication availability (compared to twice weekly). Document and report any incidents, deviations or potential safety risks. Complete housekeeper audit on Tendable. Ensuring medications ordered for patients are received in a timely manner andforwarded on to their respective admission area, thereby, reducing as waste andduplication of effort in reordering. Actively collect drugs from Pharmacy when needed. Assist with ensuring medicine stock is put away in a timely manner. Removal of expired medicines and return to pharmacy. Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, particularlythose related to infection control in critical care setting. Utilised appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when performed cleaningtasks. Participate in mandatory training sessions on infection control and healthy safety protocols. Daily temperature/recording checks of medicines storage rooms. Ensuring daily nursing CD checks are carried out. Expiry date checking on drugs and drug stock rotation Ensuring date labelling of open liquid medicines Comply with safe storage of medication requirements Assist in ensuring stock lists are altered in a responsive manner changes to themedication stock list such as additions, removals, increases in stock amounts canbe enacted more quickly. Support to Critical Care Staff: Assist staff with maintaining organised and cleanworkstations in pharmacy room. Report any pharmacy related maintenance issues or safety hazards to theappropriate department promptly. Ensure proper storage of medication ensuring stock is correctly organised and wardstock cupboards and pod lockers and treatment rooms are tidy which will: Allow nursing staff to identify and administer medications timelier Reduce the risk of mis-selection of medication.Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, schedules and compliance checks. As such, they are seeking a Commercial Lead to help them on this journey.
Your new role
As the Commercial Lead, reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will spearhead a new corporate category team for Professional Services (including HR, Finance, Marketing, and ICT). You will adopt a category-led approach, fostering market relationships to design contracts and streamline sourcing activities. The role involves strategic direction for each subcategory, developing commercial category strategy and policy, and ensuring alignment with the upcoming Public Procurement Regulations 2023. You will manage four individuals across two indirect subcategory teams and ensure alignment with other indirect category teams. You will lead the organisation in public sector procurement, support Directors in leveraging the organisation's expertise, and develop commercial intelligence. In addition, you will oversee all sourcing activity for this major spend category, manage the organisation's supply chain, and apply strategies to support key strategies. Budget responsibilities include controlling procurement costs, leading negotiations for high-value contracts, and having a £15M signing power authority. Other duties include mentoring and development of team members, undertaking CIPS qualifications, providing support to training programmes provided by the department when required, and acting as the Commercial Lead for DESNEZ & Cabinet Office controls for procurements over £10m within their area of control. They will also lead the Commercial Assurance & Control Review panel on behalf of the organisation and attend other equivalent meetings as required as part of their area of responsibility.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate for this role should be fully qualified and possess a degree or equivalent experience. You will have had experience working with public contract regulations since 2015 on end-to-end procurements and good working knowledge of the Public Procurement Regulations 2023. You will have experience at a strategic procurement project and programme level, acting as the lead expert for complex/critical Procurement and Commercial issues, and be able to influence both internal and external stakeholders. You will be a dynamic, inspirational, and motivational leader.

Window Cleaner

We are looking for a Window Cleaner to join our Northwest Estate Services team. You will be responsible for window cleaning, gutter vacuum cleaning and other duties. You will join a large team of 50 and will work alongside 1 other operative sharing a van. You will cover various sites across the Northwest region and have opportunities to further your career carrying out training when required.

The role of Window Cleaner will include:

- Carrying out window cleaning, caretaking and cleaning duties
- Serving as a first point of contact for customers, providing accurate and timely information when needed
- Identify and report any potential maintenance issues to ensure a safe environment is maintained
- Ensuring tools, equipment and vehicle are maintained in good condition and stock levels are maintained appropriately


Skills and experiences:

- Working knowledge and experience of undertaking window cleaning
- Some experience of general caretaking and cleaning duties
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Some experience in understanding simple verbal instructions and undertaking duties as requested
- Ability to work to deadlines
- This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
