In this role you will have a range of professional duties covering the full scope of library services incorporating the use of a Pop-Up vehicle.

About the Position
In this role you will be responsible for...
Communication/Programming/Outreach
Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners, local non-profits, and other County departments.
Assist with a calendar of scheduled visits of our outreach vehicle, to sites across Sarasota, especially those serving children, seniors and underserved populations throughout the County.
Analyze and identify service population needs, and develop plans to meet those needs.
Promote the understanding and use of the library and its resources.
Offer outreach services in coordination with team members and Library System Staff.
Plan and direct library programming for adults, young adults, and children, in coordination with team members and Library System Staff.
Provide formal/informal instruction to individuals/groups on use of library resources, learning tools, etc.
Initiate, design, facilitate and evaluate education programs; collaborate on activities and programs related to pop-up library services and community goals.
Load and unload book trucks on the Pop-up Library vehicle and drive the vehicle to outreach facilities.
Perform collection development and maintenance for the Pop-up Library vehicle.
Customer Service
Develop and implement standards of service that ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of each inquiry by internal and external customers, delivered with the utmost respect and courtesy.
Recommend informational resources and materials for education and enrichment.
Present individual and group training programs for public in the use of technology and equipment, and library resources.
General reference service in assisting customers by locating answers to questions, including Interlibrary Loan services and referral to agencies outside the library.
Keep abreast of developments, new trends, and innovations in libraries.
Represent Sarasota County to library users.
Administration
Integrate research and monitor patterns and trends into planning process.
Assist, lead, develop, implement, and /or evaluate special projects, services and library programs.
Collaborate with internal core services to manage operational issues, support community goals and form strategic partnerships.
Assist with collecting statistics and outcome measures to evaluate goals for the unit.
Staff Development
Participate in cross training in other sections and aid in cross training in their section.
Attend agency, system-wide, local, regional, state, and national meetings and workshops to enhance professional skills.
Participate in the development of goals and/or objectives for the Outreach Services Team.
Work Hours:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
Must be available to work: Sunday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc.
Employee may be re-assigned to a different work location (other than original assignment) within the library system to meet changing service needs.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Library and Information Science.
-OR- Bachelors degree and enrolled in a MLS/MLIS program with the ability to obtain a MLS/MLIS within twelve (12) months of hire.
Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
