Improve equipment reliability by increasing the mean time between failure (MTBF) while reducing the mean time to repair (MTTR). Maintenance Planner to work alongside engineering team colleagues to provide an efficient and effective maintenance planning support to the team ensuring a smooth operation. Supporting both internal and external customers ensuring all planning and administration duties relating to Engineering Projects are delivered in an accurate and timely manner.

Main responsibilities:

Engineering document supply and control (SOP's, Risk Assessments etc.)

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:

About the role

The Faculty of Science and Engineering wish to appoint a Senior Technician to provide teaching and research support for the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics.

You will work as part of a team under the direction of the School Technical Manager and deliver support in all aspects of Digital Fabrication including laser cutting and 3D printing, and contribution to CAD & CAM delivery within the School. You will need to demonstrate the relevant skills, a suitable amount of work experience and a commitment to the technical delivery/technical education within the technical team. This role will support a broad range of activities including undergraduate projects, teaching, research and outreach activities.

You will be expected to have an NVQ/BTEC level 3/4 or Degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent or substantial appropriate experience in the subject. You must have practical knowledge and experience in digital fabrication with a particular focus on laser cutting and 3D printing, CAD and CAM skills, including the use of software such as SolidWorks, SolidCAM and Fusion360. As this is a heavily student focused role, experience in a student based focused environment would be desirable. A key element of the role will be the day-to-day operation of the DigiFab laboratory, and as such, experience of working in a H&S focused manner is essential and experience of taking responsibility for H&S in a workshop is desirable.
