As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, WG-5801-10, you will troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, automotive vehicles; troubleshoot, repairs/overhauls major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic, heavy duty drive line systems, hydraulic utility systems, controls; perform work in accordance with modification work orders, technical manuals, lubrication orders, maintenance bulletins, regulations or management policies; troubleshoot equipment; diagnose cause of mechanical failures by means of visual/auditory checks and/or use test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, computer diagnostic tools; remove/ disassemble engines/major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, fuel, hydraulic, oil pressure systems; make adjustments/ repairs to electrical/suspension systems; perform repairs, maintenance functions in remote locations by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders, worn brake shoes; provide technical guidance, specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team; assist lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work; assist higher graded mechanics in repairing interconnected systems such as electrical, air/hydraulic systems, complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems that use specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems, complex fuel injection systems; similar complex systems; perform operational inspections ensures vehicles/ equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, and performs other preventive maintenance operations as required; inspect in-process repair work of lower graded repairer to ensure equipment is being repaired in accordance with requirements; maintain/repair electronics communication equipment by removing/ replacing components/elements; assist in the maintenance of production reports and records, make recommendations to supervisor as to adjustments necessary to effectively, efficiently and economically accomplish the work and maximize production; perform other duties as assigned.

• Provide comprehensive specialized nursing care to complicated and routine antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and perioperative obstetric patients and their neonates.
• Evaluate complicated and routine obstetric and neonatal patients who require close observation for subtle changes in condition.
• Consistently utilize advanced assessment skills to identify difficult patient care problems, formulate plans to meet complex patient care needs, and continually revise goals and objectives according to changes in maternal/fetal status.
• Monitor, evaluate, and document the status of laboring patients through frequent checks of blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and fetal monitor patterns.

• Provide highly specialized nursing care to patients along a spectrum of acuity from minor complaints to the critically ill and injured.
• Contribute to the medical examination of patients by observing, recognizing, recording and reporting changes in patient condition.
• Respond decisively to life threatening changes in patient condition providing immediate and appropriate emergency measures.
• Operate highly specialized equipment such as electronic arterial pressure sensors, cardiac/respiratory monitoring systems, pacemakers, defibrillators, infusion pumps, mechanical ventilation and hemodynamic monitoring equipment.

• Receive visitors and telephone calls, referring to the appropriate staff.

• Perform a variety of receptionist duties associated with patient care and treatment.

Such assignments may include but not limited to:

• Dragging, raking, installing bases, home plates and pitching rubbers, laying out foul lines and playing field boundaries, repairing backstops, and mowing grass on near all MWR recreational facilities.
• Trims, edges, rakes and mows grass at all assigned MWR recreational areas and playing fields.
• Polices all MWR assigned areas, collects and disposes of trash and garbage, usually using a pickup truck or light duty vehicle to transport to disposal area.
• Operates a light duty vehicle, grounds maintenance equipment, which includes weed eater, trimmers, edgers, backpack blowers, push and riding mowers.
• Assist in the preparation of activities, indoor and outdoor, for special events and program support.
