Clinical Technician (GS-8)
The primary duties of this position are performed in the outpatient pharmacy area of the pharmacy department/program and the purpose of this position is to improve patient satisfaction with the outpatient pharmacy prescription pick-up process. The incumbent is a highly specialized, efficient, motivated, and customer-friendly technician, who, under the authority of the Chief, Pharmacy Service, is responsible for the technical and appropriate clinical management of patient care assistance regarding the outpatient pharmacy operation and community care prescriptions. The incumbent is responsible for providing a variety of complex technical and automated functions that require the application of extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and pharmacy practices.

• Maintains general technical knowledge of medication brand names, generic names, medication use, dosage forms, and general/special storage requirements.
• The position requires the ability to function independently and requires exceptional skill in oral and written modes of communication.
