• You will plan, coordinate, and oversee all work performed within the assigned area of Crane Maintenance Division.

• You will be directly responsible for the overhaul, maintenance and repair of Norfolk Naval Shipyard's heavy-lift equipment, transporters, locomotives, railcars, mobile cranes, ELPARs, floater cranes, dive boats and in some cases, selected cranes.
• You will study crane maintenance problems and recommends or institutes corrective action, as necessary.
• You will direct, through subordinate supervisors, all maintenance/repair of weight handling equipment (WHE) in the assigned area, adhering to time, cost, safety and quality standards.
• You will analyze work schedules and participates in the establishment of broad Lifting and Handling goals and milestones.
• You will consult with subordinate supervisors to determine work load capacity and make adjustments to work priorities in order to comply with established milestones and changing work conditions.
• You will be responsible for providing basic information to the Manger of the Crane Maintenance Division for the preparation of the Crane Maintenance Division portion of the shop's budget.
• You will contribute to the development of Standard Process Instructions that relate to the Lifting and Handling Department trades and to the development of follow-up plans.
• You will participate in various shipyard management briefs to inform other departments of those issues of concern to the Crane Maintenance Division and Lifting and Handling Department.

The primary purpose of this position is to as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer position, to serve as an assistant to the Maintenance Group Commander and as such, reviews policy and assists the Senior ART/Maintenance Group (MXG) Commander in planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling all activities and operations of the Maintenance Group. Incumbent receives experience, training, and instruction in providing overall staff direction to all Maintenance Group programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. In conjunction with the MXG Senior Art/Commander plans, direct, organizes, manages, and provides oversight for activities in the Maintenance Group. Responsible to the Maintenance Group Senior ART/Commander in integrating, and executing all aspects of the assigned maintenance activities/programs within cost, schedule, performance and/or system supportability requirements.
2. Represents the Maintenance Group Commander at a variety of installation and functional area organizational meetings. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other group commanders, representatives and senior staff at Numbered Air Force, HQ AFRC, gaining MAJCOMs, and Air Staff.
3. Ensures effective operation of the aircraft maintenance complex. Make periodic and comprehensive assessment of program through a review of performance indicators, productivity goals and accomplishments, deficiency reports, audit findings, etc.
4. Accomplishes special staff studies, projects and initiatives resulting from legislative and regulatory changes, reengineering efforts, new technology, privatization, program/mission changes, etc. Identifies the need for studies, establishes goals and objectives, and designates working group(s) as needed.

• Directs the implementation of the Safety and Occupational Health Programs to include the worksite evaluation program, collection of records/accident statistics, safety awards, fire prevention, hazardous waste, and other regulatory programs.
• Coordinates the inspections of environmental conditions and assessment of hazards.

• Determine the primary next of kin based on regulatory definition and the person authorized to direct the disposition of the remains.
• Ensure that remains are properly identified, released only with proper authorization, and that they are dispositioned properly in accordance with state, federal and DoD regulations.
• Provide information and explains to Casualty Assistance Calls Officers the different benefits, e.g., financial assistance, Social Security System, survivor benefits, VA benefits, civil service benefits, education, etc.

• Review deceased's medical and dental records, in conjunction with physician and pathologist, and analyzes the past and current diagnoses to determine if the death should be reported to the County Medical Examiner.

You Have:

• Experience as a battalion supply lead, operations lead, or facility manager

• Knowledge of GCCS-A, Army funding streams, and current Army Property tracking tools

• Ability to travel 10% annually

• Secret clearance

• HS diploma or GED and 9+ years of experience with facility management and logistics supporting military operations or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience with facility management and logistics supporting military operations
