Rotating Equipment Technician Lead
KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for a Rotating Equipment Technician Lead to support the multi-billion-dollar Plaquemines project developing a Liquid Natural Gas export facility when fully developed will have an export capacity of up to 20 million metric tons per year. The facility’s location is about 20 miles south of New Orleans. This project is expected to be a multi-phase project spanning two years.
Aligning with KBR’s commitment to sustainability, the 630-acre site located on the Mississippi River provides deep-water access without the need for dredging, allowing for an expedited environmentally friendly development process.

This position is contingent upon having a current/valid TWIC card or having the ability to renew or obtain a TWIC card.
The TWIC card must be kept current and maintained through employment.
The Rotating Equipment Technician Lead will conduct commissioning and corrective maintenance activities for rotating equipment such as turbines, compressors, engines, and pumps. This role will ensure the availability and integrity of the installed systems and equipment in terms of safety and reliability.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise assigned work to Rotating Equipment Technicians according to project requirements and deadlines
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and quality of work of Rotating Equipment Technicians
- Ensure that all Rotating Equipment Installation, Commissioning, and Repair activities are carried out in compliance with OEM standards, safety regulations, and company policies
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Rotating Equipment operation and functionality
- Order and maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials for Rotating Equipment Commissioning Activities
- Train and mentor new or junior Rotating Equipment Technicians on best practices, procedures, and techniques
- Communicate and coordinate with other departments, vendors, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth and efficient operation of Rotating Equipment
- Provide technical support and advice to engineers, managers, and clients on Rotating Equipment design, selection, testing, fabrication, installation, and commissioning
Experience & Skills:
- Knowledge of maintenance strategy and analysis techniques, such as reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), root cause failure analysis (RCFA), and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
- Strong rotating equipment troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, using tools such as vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and laser alignment
- Experience in machinery rotor balancing, using equipment such as balancing machines, soft foot correction tools, and dial indicators
- Familiarity with industry standards, safety procedures, and best practices for rotating equipment operation and maintenance
- Certification or license from a recognized professional organization, such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), or the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP)
- Level II or III Vibration Analyst Certification (VCAT2 or VCAT3) from the Vibration Institute
- Level II or III Lubrication Analyst Certification (LCAT2 or LCAT3) from the International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML)
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) from the SMRP
- Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) from OPITO
- Enhanced Competency Requirements (ECR) from the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC)
Additional Qualifications:
- In lieu of formal education a Craft Certification and 8 + years of experience in the field of rotating equipment installation, commissioning & maintenance
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
