Role Purpose:
Support the production and installation of high-quality glass and aluminium systems by cutting, assembling, glazing, and finishing components to meet industry and company standards.
Core Objectives:
• Interpret and apply drawings and plans, performing measurements and calculations to determine the raw materials required.
• Safely and accurately use tools and machinery to cut, smooth, drill, and score glass or aluminium.
• Professionally install glass fixtures using appropriate methods, such as chemical compounds, putty, or rubber strips.
• Fabricate aluminium for domestic and commercial applications, ensuring precise on-site fitting and installation.
• Produce high-performance products in line with company standards, including Crimsafe and custom designs.
• Maintain clean and organised workspaces, tools, and company vehicles.
• Ensure final products meet quality standards, including durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Certificate III in Glass and Glazing or equivalent desirable (or relevant experience)
• QLD White Card / General Construction Induction (essential).
• At least 2 years’ proven experience as a glazier or in a similar fabrication and installation role.

Your new role :

Reporting to the construction Manager and working closely with the Operational Team you will be responsible for the cost estimating, tendering, front end pre start of a variety of projects as well as providing regular updates on the performance of on-going projects valuing up to £10mil.
As the Quantity Surveyor your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out the day to day administration of the commercial and financial aspects of projects bids
• Close liaison with the Project Management Team(s)

• Preparing Cost and Value reporting

What you'll need to succeed :

In order to be successful in this role, you will have prior experience of working as a Quantity Surveyor at pre construction stage for a construction company or have solid experience and be ready to take a step into a more senior role. This role would require you to have strong negotiation skills to work with subcontractors and clients to reach positive commercial terms and minimise any commercial risks to the business. You must have good technical knowledge and skills in the construction sector and a good knowledge of commonly used contracts and frameworks. Ideally, you will hold a formal qualification in quantity surveying at degree level. However, candidates will be considered with HND/ HNC qualifications and relevant experience.

The agreed amount of time spent at a workplace for this post will reflect the requirement for Civil Servants to spend at least 60% of their working time in an organisation workplace with the option to work the remaining time flexibly from home. Our client based in Lincoln is on the lookout for a skilled Grinding Operative to join their team on a permanent, full-time contract. You’ll be working on shaft and pins, grinding to precise tolerances on components that weigh anywhere from 500kg to 16 tonnes. This is a key role within their team, and they’re looking for someone who thrives in a heavy engineering environment.

What you’ll be doing:
- Setting and operating cylindrical grinding machines to achieve precise finishes.
- Handling large components safely using lifting and handling equipment.
- Reading engineering drawings and working to exact specifications.
- Inspecting and checking your work using precision tools like micrometres and callipers.
- Keeping equipment running smoothly and troubleshooting minor issues as needed.
- Working safety and supporting the team to meet production goals.

What we’re looking for:
- Hands-on experience as a Grinding Operative
- A proactive problem-solver who’s comfortable working in a fast-paced workshop environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings with excellent attention to detail
- Formal Qualifications are preferred, ideally Level 1 as a minimum – must have a knowledge of health and safety and be able to read from drawings
