PROGRAM OVERVIEW
DESF employs support staff to provide Disability Support Providers in WA various services from administration to disability support workers.
DESF is a rapidly growing and developing enterprise. As such employee’s roles and responsibilities are expected to develop along with the company.
About The Role
Join our dynamic People & Culture Team as an HR Advisor, specialising in employee and industrial relations. This pivotal role involves providing advice, coaching, and mentorship to designated portfolios, ensuring optimal human resource utilisation to meet strategic business goals. Reporting directly to the Director, you'll become a trusted advisor, championing a customer-centric model to deliver seamless and efficient HR services. Responsibilities include proactively managing employee relations, ensuring policy compliance, and driving HR initiatives within portfolios.
Key Tasks And Responsibilities:
• Participate in Human Resource responsibilities: recruitment, selection, onboarding, and performance management of Support Workers.
• Organise induction, and conduct probation and performance reviews in conjunction with support staff member’s supervisor.
• Manage Support Worker grievances/complaints as per DESF Policy and Procedures for Disputes and Grievances & Equity, Anti-Discrimination and Workplace Bullying.
• Maintain personnel records using HRIS Elmo and the Employment Hero system.
• Preparing HR documents, including promotions, salary changes and staff letters, etc.
• Management of rostering staff members and the effective allocation of the most suitable support staff member to meet the Support Providers' specific requirements of care for their Participants.
• Identify additional areas/services that can enhance and/or improve the development and growth of DESF.
• This role is also responsible for ensuring all reporting and administrative requirements are met and services are in line with DESF Policy and Procedures and the Disability Services Act 1993.
• Provide leadership and support to staff to ensure they understand and comply with all relevant standards and regulations, including the NDIS Practice Standards and Code of Conduct, and provide training and development opportunities as needed.
• Maintain employment agreements and position descriptions for all employees.
• Work proactively with Managers to ensure employment entitlements are compliant with DESF Policies and Procedures and the SCHADS Award;
• Drive HR initiatives within designated portfolios and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
• Assist in identifying training needs and delivering internal education sessions and maintaining and utilising the Online Learning Management system.
Selection Criteria: Skills & Qualifications
• Proven experience in employee relations, recruitment, and performance management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• At least 3-5 years experience working in a People & Culture team or Human Resources Administrative or Coordinator role or Employment Relations.
• Multilingual
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner maintaining confidentiality at all times.
• Knowledge and understanding of contemporary and best practice HR approaches.
• Ability to work independently and exercise initiative and discretion.
• Strong organisational skills including the ability to manage workloads and achieve outcomes in a busy environment.
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills and ability to adapt these to multiple levels of the organisation.
• Formal qualification in HR is highly regarded, however, we understand working experience comes in all shapes and sizes, so we encourage those who have had exposure to employee matters to apply.
• Minimum 5 years working in a management role is a must if qualification is not obtained.
Desirable:
• Experience working in an international or multicultural environment.
• Strong knowledge of HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and other relevant HR technologies.
