Supporting the overarching Lakeside Healthcare Group strategy and service delivery, the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) provides complete episodes of care for patients with a wide variety and range of presenting problems and health care needs. This encompasses the provision of evidence based, high-quality care for patients whose issues fall within urgent/acute episodes, long-term/chronic conditions and including health promotion and public health elements. ANPs operating in primary care have a wide range of skills, a broad knowledge base, and the ability to deliver specific aspects of care. At times these will need to be supplemented by the skills of specialist health care professionals in both primary and secondary care, and include use of a range of diagnostic and screening services. Although independent practitioners, the ANP act collaboratively with colleagues working in the same area of practice, or refer to and share care with colleagues in more specialist areas. Although the expertise of the ANP in Primary Care lies in their ability to operate as a generalist, notably maternity care is the one domain where legislation stipulates that only a registered medical practitioner or a practicing midwife can provide care for a pregnant woman. In summary, the post holder is an experienced nurse who, acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. The role of pharmacy within General Practice is part of an exciting programme of transformation which is underpinned by the NHS Long Term Plan. This is an innovative role to work within the Lakeside Healthcare Pharmacy team to ensure safe and effective use of medicines for patients within Lakeside Healthcare. As a starting point the role will initially focus on medicines reconciliation from clinic and discharge letters, and will develop further as the role of the Pharmacy team expands within the organisation. It is vital that effective systems and procedures are in place to ensure that this process is effective, safe and efficient. The right candidate will be involved in day to day management of this with regular and thorough reviews of all medications. The process also ensures that patients receive the appropriate monitoring necessary for the medication they are prescribed. Job Responsibilities/Principal Duties to include: Medicines reconciliation from clinic and discharge letters Take a central role in the clinical aspects of shared care protocols Level 1 medication reviews to include: Identifying patients on repeat medication who have not had a medication review Check medical notes to assess if any monitoring is required and arrange as appropriate Update medication as appropriate following defined protocols Remove any old or unnecessary medication from repeat Update quantities to provide appropriate supply each month Review dosage instructions to ensure concise and clear instructions Ensure prescribing is in-line with the Lakeside Drug Formulary whilst taking consideration of CCG prescribing guidance Support Clinical Pharmacists with general prescription requests and medication queries to allow them to review the more clinically complex requests Liaise with the pharmacist if there are any concerns regarding patient medication regimens Promote and support the implementation of electronic repeat dispensing Conduct searches for audits and high-risk drug monitoring using clinical systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Physician to join us on a 6-month contract as a ST1-ST2 level Trust Doctor, enhancing their skillset and confidence under the guidance of an inspiring team at Peterborough City Hospital.

Located in a historic Cambridgeshire city, Peterborough City Hospital is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility accommodating over 700 inpatient beds on modern wards. Peterborough is accessible by road or train within easy commute distance from London, Cambridge, Leicester or Birmingham.

You will be exposed to a variety of experiences by undertaking clinical duties on NICU, the Transitional Care Unit, PAU and Amazon Ward, as well as participating in General Paediatric clinics.

We deliver over 4500 babies each year and approximately 350 babies are admitted to the unit each year. You will be exposed to and learn practical procedures such as intubation and LISA (less invasive surfactant administration), umbilical vessel catheterisation, long line insertion and chest drains.

You will join an experienced team of Consultants, Registrars, Specialist Doctors and nursing staff who will guide you and ensure you receive a comprehensive training programme with weekly teaching sessions.

Your weekly duties will be covered on a rota basis on a full shift pattern currently 1:8. The weekly average is 46 hours inclusive of annual leave cover. A week of Outpatient Clinics are factored into the rota.

The Paediatric department is located in the separate Woman & Children’s wing which displays a state-of-the-art Maternity Suite with 77 beds and a Neonatal Unit with 20 cots, 6 of which are specifically for intensive care/high dependency babies. In addition, we run a separate 14 bedded Transitional Care Ward. The general Paediatric In-Patient Unit (Amazon Ward) is a 30 bedded unit with a separate 9 bedded Paediatric Assessment Unit and an adjoining Children’s Out-Patient Unit (Rainforest).

You will be encouraged to enter appropriate examinations including MRCPCH and DCH. A structured teaching programme will be offered to you to help to prepare for this.

You will attend monthly audit meeting where you will have the opportunity to present your projects. You will be required to complete at least one audit project during your placement.

All doctors will be supported to undertake the necessary training for Adult and Paediatric Safeguarding.

We are looking for a Locum Healthcare Assistant to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at RAF Wyton Medical Centre, in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

This is a full-time locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Job Description – Service Requirements
• To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing basic ward-based nursing care within a Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) bedded down facility, to the Defence Medical Services (DMS) entitled Population at Risk (PAR)
• To provide general basic nursing care under supervision and direction of the Lead Practice Nurse, undertaking tasks and duties delegated by a suitably qualified and registered healthcare professional.
• To provide medical administrative support as required.
• To assist the Medical Officer’s (MOs) and practice nurse teams within Primary Health Care clinics, Occupational Health assessment clinics, chronic disease clinics and with health promotion.
• To record a range of clinical observations, tests and measurements such as, visual acuity, recording Electrocardiograms (ECGs), venepuncture, peak flow readings, spirometry, urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation, whilst working within individual scope of competence and following DMS and DPHC policy and procedures.
• To communicate effectively with patients in specific clinical situations and work collaboratively with the nursing team and administrative staff to meet the needs of patients.
• To comply with infection, prevention and control requirements.
• To use equipment in accordance with local equipment care directives and comply with Health and Safety policy and regulations.
• To undertake and remain in date for all mandatory training as set out in the most current DPHC Guidance Note entitled Mandatory Training for Locums, Agency Staff and single Service personnel working within DPHC.


Essential Requirements/ / Qualifications / Experience
• Must have a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ/SVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or an equivalent Healthcare related NVQ).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years recent experience within the last 3 years of working in general practice or other healthcare environment as an HCA.
• Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).
• Must be able to provide certificates of training, as undertaken within the last three years, and/or be able to provide proof of clinical competency from a previous employer or Line Manager, who is a current registered healthcare professional, in:
- Recording ECGs
- Performing Venepuncture
- Performing urinalysis
- Preparation of specimens
- Undertaking simple dressing procedures
- Using aseptic technique
• Must be in date and able to provide certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 2 training.
