The WVPM's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Collaborating with facility and community stakeholders to develop a comprehensive outreach plan that includes increasing public awareness of services available for women Veterans; networking to enhance community engagement with non-VA stakeholders
• Collaborating with National Women's Health Services and Higher Echelon to fully implement the Women's Health Transition Training Program as women Veterans transition out of the military and into the VA for healthcare.
• Developing relationships with Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs), DOD facilities, state, and local organizations to facilitate outreach to rural women Veterans.
• Planning and coordinating a variety of community outreach activities that promote knowledge of and use of VA services.
• These activities include, but are not limited to:
  • public speaking
  • presentations
  • informational booths
  • program liaison duties.
• Collecting data, tracking trends, developing, and implementing performance improvement to ensure program effectiveness.
• Developing outreach materials and marketing materials to be used by facility-based outreach teams.
• Assuring accurate and consistent messaging is disseminated to Veterans and Community partners.
• Coordinating logistics for outreach events including staffing, computer support, brochures, and other marketing materials.
• Performing administrative support tasks that improve women Veteran's access to care in rural areas.
• Analyzing quality improvement data and is actively involved in performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintaining a computerized system of program-specific data to track suspense of items such as project milestones, progress reports, funding requirements, and compliance strategies.
• Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of gender-specific services available to women Veterans in the Durham VA and Fayetteville VA markets in addition to knowledge of VA benefits and VA eligibility.
• Maintaining knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques for assessing program development or execution and improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency
• Maintaining clear, succinct, professional communication when corresponding with individuals and groups such as practitioners, executive staff, Veterans, VSOs, and professional societies.
• Demonstrating professional interpersonal skills when representing VA healthcare to state, local, and other federal agencies.
• Serving as an advocate for women Veterans and working closely with Eligibility Office and Veteran Experience Office (Patient Advocate Office) to facilitate problem resolution and enhance women Veteran satisfaction.
• Culture transformation projects to create a safe, secure, and respectful environment for women Veterans to receive care.
• Participating in the review of the physical environment by identifying deficiencies and recognizing opportunities for improvement to meet the needs of women Veterans.
• Collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure women Veterans receive gender-specific care the right care, at the right time, in the right environment.
• Collaborating with Specialty services and Primary Care to develop programs/services that meet the needs of women veterans who are currently seeking care within the facility and the increasing number expected to do so
• Collecting, developing, and analyzing data to ensure access to quality clinical care.
• Serving as an advocate for women veterans by identifying issues pertinent to the care of women veterans and mobilizing resources for resolution.
• Serving as a consultant to facility personnel involving all aspects of care for women veterans and is a recognized subject matter expert on matters related to women veterans' health. As such, WVPM will ensure compliance with all existing VA policies and regulations, medical center procedures and policies and other relevant requirements.

The Medicine/Telemetry unit has telemetry monitors for monitoring patients with chest pain or acute myocardial infarction in addition patients with circulatory disorders, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and heart failure are also served. The Medicine/Telemetry unit occasionally cares for patients, who have had surgical interventions but are in the chronic phase of treatment. Registered Nurses partner with LPN's and Nursing Assistants to provide patient and family centered care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, who support patients and families in decision-making.

The Registered Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring that subordinate nursing personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice. This includes the authority to accept, amend or reject the work of subordinates.

The Registered Nurse Manager has continuing responsibilities for all the following functions to include but not limited to:

• Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities, and preparing schedules for completion or work.
• Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of subordinates.
• Evaluating the performance of subordinates.

• Plans, develops, and implements a clinical based program designed to provide high quality, safe care under the Army Patient Safety Program (APSP).
• Prepares and reviews aggregate data, performs trend analyses, and identifies and makes recommendations for improvement.
• Provides expertise and guidance to staff members in the areas of patient safety reporting, prospective risk analysis, aggregate analysis, root cause analysis, and development and evaluation of action plans.
• Oversees the education of the beneficiary population regarding its role in identification of patient safety related issues.
• Establishes administrative controls aimed at ensuring approved recommendations from completed aggregate analysis and root cause analysis (RCA) are implemented as proposed.
• Performs staff support work in short and long-range planning efforts.

• Serves as liaison between the facility's Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D) service line.
• Represents the unique needs and interests of VA-funded clinical researchers to OIT by working as an advocate and collaborative partner with OIT staff to ensure seamless delivery of information systems to the HSR&D service line.
• Participates on local and national calls of interest related to Information Systems infrastructure and change/development, and integration.
• Provides expert consultation to Service Line leadership regarding Information Systems infrastructure needs and proactively identifies ways to improve efficiency, cost savings, customer service, and usability.
• Creates internal manuals and guidance documents regarding internal processes for managing Information Systems related processes and troubleshooting of issues.
• Analyzes new or proposed legislation and/or agency regulations related to data security, records management, software-use, and other Information Systems-related topics to determine impact on Information Systems infrastructure and future use.
• Researches and investigates new or improved Information Systems business and management practices/tools such as web-based communication platforms, encryption, data integration, big data storage, and other innovations and advises service-line leaders and clinical researchers regarding the potential for incorporating new technologies.
• Reviews regulatory and administrative audits to determine if appropriate changes or corrective actions are required for area of responsibility.
• Provides technical consultation for research proposals submitted for technical review and commentary.
• Collaborates with researchers as requested to provide guidance regarding software, server space, and equipment needs.
• Facilitates the completion of complex OIT folder, software, database, and other requests within the OIT landscape and with the research and development user client in accordance with OIT and VA policy and procedures.
• Develops and deploys service-line level processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to manage a large volume of OIT requests to ensure streamlined workflow.
• Performs quality assurance activities within the service data management infrastructure to troubleshoot and resolve problems, ensure security and integrity, optimize content and structure, and ensure compliance with national and local procedures.
• Develops processes and procedures to manage inventory of Information Systems equipment and software licenses including responsibilities for tracking, managing, and maintaining software license renewals across the whole service line.
• Interacts with various research study Principal Investigators, study staff, and operations staff to develop comprehensive IT budgets including specialized software and hardware needs for the centers.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
