Prior Park College, Bath has an exciting new opportunity for a Mental Health and Wellbeing Assistant to join our dedicated Health and Wellbeing Centre. The post holder will work closely with our Lead Nurse and Health Centre Assistants, wider school and pastoral team(s) and the Head of Compliance to support the proactive strategy for student health, including first aid, mental health and wellbeing, pastoral care provision in the School.

The role has access to confidential information and will require absolute discretion and in line with both internal and external data protection policies and laws. A current full UK driving licence is required for this role.

Our dedicated Health and Wellbeing Centre provides medical, well-being, counselling, and pastoral support services to our student community at Prior Park College and potentially at The Paragon School. Working 40 hours per week on a rota basis, term time and CPD days plus 2 additional weeks (37 weeks per year).

The Health and Wellbeing Centre is open between 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and the appointed person will also work an evening in the boarding house, likely until 9.30pm with a later start time on that day. Will also be required to work for a occasional pre- arranged day over a weekend to assist as required, such as the welcoming of boarding students to college.

The Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are part of the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service in Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust and are within the ‘Getting Advice’ and ‘Getting Help’ (quadrants of) the developing iThrive model currently being implemented across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The iThrive model provides an integrated approach to the delivery of person-centered and needs-led services for children, young people and families.

The post holder will be supporting the MHST’s provision of a high-quality service to students (and their families) experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

The three core elements that the MHST’s provide are:
• Evidence based interventions for mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing issues
• Support designated senior mental health leads in educational setting
• Provide timely advice to school and college staff

The post holder will work alongside Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP’s), Senior Wellbeing Practitioners (SWP’s) and Senior Clinicians through direct delivery of evidence-based interventions that support the recovery of young people referred to the service. We have a 30 bedded Ward comprising of 12 en-suite cubicles, a 2 bedded fully equipped HDU area and 4 four bedded bays. We are a general paediatric unit receiving children from 0 – 18 years dependent on condition. We operate a busy day surgery area within the unit, taking up to 10 surgical patients per day.

As an HCA you may be asked to help on Jungle which is our eight bedded paediatric assessment unit adjacent to the Amazon Children’s ward where GP admissions are assessed and monitored. We share this area part of the day with the emergency department.

May also be asked to help on Rainforest which is our busy and expanding Outpatient department specifically for children.

The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical support to providers within one of our clinical practices.

Duties include but not limited to the following: check in patients, obtaining vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, temperature) and medication reconciliation, patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), scheduling and following-up with appointments and assisting with medication fill and refill requests, checking for prior authorizations and scheduling tests, procedures and consultations.  May also perform other procedures such as EKG, phlebotomy, lab tests and injections (once competency has been assessed).

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
