The certified GS-8 Pharmacy Technician (Procurement) is responsible for assisting in procurement of prescription medications, nonprescription medications, and supplies in a highly complex area of Pharmacy Service at within the Orlando VA Healthcare System. This responsibility mandates compliance with all Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Food and Drug Agency (FDA) and all federal rules and regulations regarding contract compliance, purchase card procedures, reconciliation requirements, control point rules, controlled substance purchasing, purchasing documentation maintenance, and general inventory control processes. • Assures drugs and supplies are appropriately stored and secured according to USP and VA guidelines, including the storage of high-risk, look a-like sound a-like, hazardous, controlled substances, corrosive chemical, flammable liquids, and refrigerated items.
• Receives, checks, rotates, and places in stock all items received and identifies and reconciles any discrepancies to assure correct items have been received.
• Utilizes automation dispensing equipment available to the pharmacy staff following all safety and QA procedures. Reports automation malfunctions timely the supervisor as appropriate.
• Records expiration dates in pharmacy automation systems, as needed.
• Performs monthly inspections to assigned areas to ensure proper storage of medications and soon to expired drugs are removed, if assigned.
• Compounds and/or reconstitutes oral or external medications (non-sterile). This includes calculating and converting to proper weights and measures the amount of drug or solution to be used for final pharmacist verification.

You'll find a full overview of the duties of Pharmacy Lead Technician - Procurement within the attached Job Description and Person Specification documents.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Administers and manages inventory controls for all medication, chemicals, medical supplies, and other supplies provided by Pharmacy Service to inpatients and outpatients.
• Employees routinely must decide what drugs and quantities to order to 1) assure continuous therapy and 2) stay within assigned budgetary limits.
• Maintains a borrow/loan ledger, which is reconciled monthly, to document borrow/loan actions with other hospitals in the area.
• Performs credit card reconciliations, certifies and files invoices, and completes other procurement forms and documentation as necessary.
• Works with Pharmacy Specialists and other Pharmacy Staff to implement and carry out recall action plans.
• Ensures that all necessary documentation and other follow-up actions are completed as required.
• Serves as a backup Procurement Pharmacy Technician (Procurement/Inventory) and complies with all the acquisition regulations, both Federal, VA, and local.
• Creates purchase orders with Prime Vendor (e.g., through McKesson Connect), Government Purchase Card, and VISTA IFCAP requests for all drugs, medical and surgical supplies, and other specialized medical devices handled by pharmacy that are either stocked or special ordered.
• Maintains accurate records of all purchases with appropriate documentation.

Job Responsibilities

· Proactively visit existing and new specialist doctors to establish strong relationships and identify new business opportunities

· Acitively generate new business by introducing doctors to the imaging MRI centres, driving referrals and ensure sustained partnerships

· Build relationships with key channel suppliers(insurance companies, GP clinics) to foster long term collaboration and business growth

· Identify and develop B2B and B2C consumer segments to expand the customer base.

· Conduct regular competitive analysis and pricing research to ensure competitiveness

· Develop and execute marketing strategies and campaigns from concept to completion

· Ensure the timely rollout of marketing plans with coordination with different stakeholders

· Build brand awareness through promotional packages and adjust strategies accordingly

· Compile and maintain comprehensive products/services offering lists

Requirements

· At least a diploma in Business or Marketing

· At least 2 years sales experience, preferably in the healthcare or medical industry

· Self motivated with the drive to meet new doctors to the centres

· Result-driven, with proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets
