About the Antarctic Support Contract:

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:

• Vision:  Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.

• Mission:  To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.

Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines.  The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

The Challenge:

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of equipment used in the long-term monitoring of physical phenomena including (but not limited to): magnetometers, spectrophotometers, CCD cameras, and other radio and optical equipment.

• Use digital and analog electronic equipment to diagnose and repair instruments and computer hardware failures.

• Support grantees by ensuring timely problem resolution, minimizing data collection interruptions, and notifying grantees of outages, issues, and maintenance schedules.

• Maintain appropriate project log books, documents and email records.

• Update standard operating procedures.

• Administer, operate, and maintain the computer-based acquisition data systems.

• Coordinate with other departments on computer configurations and networking topology issues such as firewall access and IP addresses.

• Receive and inventory capital equipment, instruments, materials, and supplies.

• Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts for equipment and instruments, and prepare resupply lists.

• Assist with life-cycle management and inform researchers/staff on replacement timelines.

• Occasionally conduct briefings on research and tours of facilities for distinguished visitors.

• Other duties as required.

Site-Specific Duties and Responsibilities: There are three Research Scientist positions, one at McMurdo and two at South Pole. Following are additional duties at these stations: Maintains, operates, and repairs cryogenic dewars, associated equipment, and compressed gas cylinders. Manages LN2 and GN2 supply for the station. Provides manual labor as needed including excavating buried experiments and performing station maintenance. Participates in community duties, which may include washing dishes and cleaning common areas.

(South Pole ONLY): Will be assigned to an Emergency Response Team (ERT). Examples are the Fire Brigade and First Aid teams which require specialized training that will be provided.

(South Pole ONLY): The South Pole positions are for approximately 13 months, beginning with 2 weeks of training in Denver in Mid-October 2024 and running through Mid-November 2025. Deployment to South Pole is from November 1, 2024 - November 15, 2025 (approximately). You will deploy from Denver directly to South Pole.

(South Pole ONLY): Will assist station meteorologist with weather observations several times a day. May involve shift work.

What Sets You Apart:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical or other Engineering, Astronomy, Astrophysics, or Physics is required.

• Two years’ experience in laboratory or observatory technical work. Laboratory or observatory technical work should include operational experience utilizing experimental, physical, optical, or atmospheric science equipment. Experience handling cryogens preferred but not required.

• General electronic troubleshooting experience required, with a minimum of two years of experience in the use of multiple commercial software packages as well as DOS and Windows operating systems.

• Basic understanding of RF and power equipment (RF attenuators, filters, LNAs, switches, switching power supplies) desired. Experience with network interfaces helpful.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities required. Knowledge of MS-Excel and Word required.

• Must be organized, able to multi-task, and able to work without direct supervision.

• Successful conflict resolution experience or training, and a flexible attitude.

• Experience working with diverse groups of people in high stress situations.

You May Also Have:

• Familiarity with legacy versions of Windows operating system, and experience with Macintosh and Linux/Unix platforms desired.

• Fluency with networking topics and file transfer tools desired.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

• Bachelors’ degree in STEM is required.   
• Minimum 2 years as a clinical study coordinator/monitor in the pharmaceutical industry; preferably in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. 
• Experience conducting/monitoring studies to Good Clinical Practice and/or Good Laboratory Practice standards.
• Experience with electronic data capture platform/ eClinical software.
• Experience working with Clinical Trial Management software platforms.
• Ability to multi-task and successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
• A growth mindset with a proactive approach to challenges is a plus.
• Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office and use of cloud-based applications.  Proficiency in MS Word and scientific writing is a must.

Expected Salary Range :

$91,300-$108,000

Essential Job Functions

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Instruction/Direct Services:
> Provide support in all academic, behavior, transition areas and effectively instruct students in a small group setting (i.e., academic success class) and/or the general education classroom in collaboration with the general education teacher
> Provide instruction and services for those pupils whose needs have been identified in an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and/or who are assigned to receive support in the Mild to Moderate Special Day Program (SDP)
> Work as part of interdisciplinary team and within content areas plans accommodations/modifications necessary to provide access to students with disabilities to the core curriculum and/or alternative curriculum and behavior support plans
> Co-teach general education classes to increase service delivery for special education students in the general education classroom
> Provide consultation services as follows but not limited to: (1) utilization of evaluation data for the accommodation and modification of instruction and curriculum (2); identification and assessment of behavior patterns in pupils (3) application of effective classroom management techniques; (4) identification of resources appropriate to individuals with exceptional needs to staff members, parents, and parents/guardians
> Collaborate with parents, administrators, testing specialists, school psychologist, social workers, and professionals to develop and monitor individual educational plans designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social development
> Provide direct support to student success teams (SST) and 504 teams by developing intervention plans for at-risk-students
> Provide workshops and professional development for staff in special education procedures/guidelines, accommodation/modification techniques and methodologies on how to serve students with exceptional needs in the general education setting
> Provide paraprofessionals with training in special education guidelines and implementation of students’ IEPs. Monitor paraprofessionals by developing system of accountability to ensure service delivery adhering to special education program requirements
> Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems

Coordination of IEPs/Services:
> Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare IEPs for students on caseload, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
> Participate as a member of the IEP team in decisions regarding placement and in the development of an individualized education program for students with disabilities. Analyzes data when revising IEPs to provide accurate present level of performance
> Coordinate: referrals and assessment procedures, IEP team meetings, the implementation of special education services provided to students with exceptional needs, collection of relevant information for those students referred to the IEP team, organization and distribution of special education media and materials for resources in general education classrooms

Job Summary:

The Sim Team, PD Training and MTC Level III manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of these three teams. The Level III manager will work closely with the CRC and Training Level II manager to help meet organizational goals. As part of Training Integration, the Level III manager will maintain a Sim Supervisor qualification, participate in simulations, coordinate corporation between the Sim Team, PD Training and the MTC groups. The Level III manager will write weekly activity reports, prepare presentations for MOSSI and NASA management as well as support meetings.

Education Required:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, science, or related field.

Years of Experience Required:

The candidate must possess at least 3 years' work experience in training, coordination, and communications in a science, or engineering-based environment. Previous space operations experience in a flight control discipline is highly desired.

Knowledge Required:

The Sim Team, PD Training, MTC Level III manager should be knowledgeable in the following areas:

The Clinical Coordinator, School of Education (CC) is the liaison for the University and school districts for placing credential candidates in clinical settings. The CC oversees and maintains the University Clinical Supervisors and their assignments. • Identify, recruit, recommend for hiring and termination of University Clinical Supervisors
• Assign University Clinical Supervisors to fieldwork students
• Participate in training of University Clinical Supervisors
• Follow up on (a) University Clinical Supervisors and their evaluations of candidates; (b) Candidates and their evaluations of University Clinical Supervisors and district supervisors, i.e., master teachers; (c) District supervisors and their evaluations of candidates and University Clinical Supervisors 
• Provide pay requests for University Clinical Supervisors and district supervisors to Central Office
• Maintain database for education candidates to assure all are placed in clinical settings upon completion of course work, CTC requirements, and university requirements.
• Conduct orientation with University Clinical Supervisors and candidates prior to commencing fieldwork so that all are aware of expectations as described in the various program Clinical Experience Handbooks. 
• In coordination with the University Clinical Supervisor and the district supervisor, counsel and develop action plans for candidates who are experiencing difficulty in fieldwork.  Notify the Director of Clinical Practice as to the additional support being provided, and the response to it.
• Identify school districts needing agreements and notify the Central Office of any changes or issues.
• Perform other duties, as assigned

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:

• Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution
• 5+ plus years teaching experience at the K-12 level
• Experience working with credential candidates in a university setting
• Current California teaching credential required
• Current administrative services credential desired.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of CTC Common Standards and Program Standards, as they apply to clinical fieldwork, is required. 
• Working knowledge of the Cal TPAs and Cal APAs is also required.
• Ability to develop and maintain databases
• Ability to effectively work within a collaborative environment

Desired Qualifications:

• Current California teaching credential
• Master’s Degree in appropriate field or equivalent
• Current California administrative services credential
• K-12 administration experience 3+ years, preferably as a department head, principal, program director, or superintendent

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software:  Ability to use a personal computer, Microsoft Office software, printers, and typical office equipment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position may be required to work flexible hours particularly given student placement timelines and schools district calendars.  All applicants are subject to a background check and criminal history review.  Working conditions are remote and require home internet access.   A valid driver’s license and vehicle for travel are required.  This position is subject to a background check including a Motor Vehicle Report.  Appropriate auto liability insurance coverage must be maintained.

The Product Training Specialist will assist with conducting customer technical training needs including determination of appropriate training content. This role will use specialized software technology to research, configure, maintain, and update training materials for customer training.

• Assist in leading technical instruction, both presentation based and hands on, to an audience of customers on various vehicle platforms.
• Assist in the curriculum development of course content by providing technical support and vehicle knowledge.
• Participate in course content reviews and pilot courses.
• Provide feedback from customers on course content and vehicle support.
• Assist in training material updates by providing technical and procedural change information necessary to maintain currency of course materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Experience in heavy truck operation and maintenance.
• Ability to travel 60%.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

• Technical and mechanical aptitude.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Knowledge and experience with Oshkosh Defense vehicles.
• Understanding of military defense vehicles.
• Experience conducting training to a variety of audiences.
