BACKGROUND TO THE POST

The department provides training and assessment for apprenticeships, workplace assessments, for industry related qualifications and Apprenticeship Standards.

The post holder will join the existing Motor Vehicle and Land Based Engineering team and to work with the Head of Work Based Learning to provide employers with the necessary support to employ apprentices, and to continue to support the apprentices in the work placements. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

✓ Assist, guide and support students following their initial enquiry and interview to choose the right course of study.
✓ Assist, guide and support employers to access appropriate recruitment options and funding streams for their respective training needs, where appropriate; including the Apprenticeship Service, Recruit an Apprentice Service.
✓ Work with relevant parties to ensure students are placed in a safe, suitable and healthy environment with appropriate access to work based training.
✓ Work with support departments and Head of WBL to ensure that all existing and new programmes, within the vocational area are marketed and promoted in the best interests of the College.

✓ To improve the quality of provision including involvement with internal and external verification procedures, annual review, self-assessment, Quality Improvement Plans and provision of data as necessary.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, execute and manage all phases of accounting and business-related research and thought leadership projects congruent with the Institute's strategy. This includes:

• Generate research themes or topics. Regular horizon scanning to identify global, regional and local industry and business trends of relevance to the accountancy profession.
• Develop and roll out research proposals that would enhance the Institute’s thought leadership and advocacy position.
• Collaborate with relevant partners, industry stakeholders, and/or government agencies to drive research projects and agendas that are relevant and of interest to the accounting profession.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality research outputs that are produced within budget allocation.
• Identify appropriate research approaches, including prepare survey questionnaires, focus group discussion questions, interview questions, etc.
• Collect, analyse and interpret data and results.
• Present research results and write reports for publication.
• Work closely with the Communications Department to effectively publicise the research outputs via available media and communications platforms.
• Produce commentaries for CA Lab on emerging business trends and developments that impact the profession.
• Carry out any other ad-hoc assignments assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Business, Finance, Economics or Political Science.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in research-related work.
• Keen interest in latest business trends and developments. Curious and always on the lookout for areas/topics that interest the accountancy and business community.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to grasp issues and acquire knowledge in new domains.
• Analyse multiple sources of information and data to derive insights for research purposes and to write reports and commentaries.
• Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to facilitate group discussions will be an added advantage.

Main Responsibilities

Manage and lead a small team of people and be responsible for overseeing performance, attendance, behaviour and welfare.

Ensure timely completion of work orders, reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and range management processes.

Allocate tasks and ensure work is carried out to the required standards.

Oversee allocation and use of resources and equipment, including plant and vehicles.

Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance tasks and ensure training areas and ranges are fit for purpose.

Manage training area usage and record keeping, including range safety, HR, and health and safety documentation.

Coordinate with external contractors and service providers.

Identify and promote best practices, including environmental compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate

• Familiarity with rural, forestry, arboriculture, and grounds maintenance practices
• Plant and Machinery Operation knowledge is desirable
• Understanding of workload scheduling and work order processes
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite such as Outlook, Word, Excel
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and working to IOSH Managing Safely level

Essential Criteria

• A proven track record of strong managerial skills able to engage at the correct levels within the company and the client (DIO)
• Strong people management skills and effective communicator, with the ability to motivate and engage team members
