Summary 

The Accountant III, Complex Accounting role will analyze complex accounting transactions and positions in order to provide accurate and timely accounting guidance across the organization and to leadership. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Corporate Controllers team has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Accounting Manager located in Midland, Michigan.  This position is a member of the Corporate Reporting group providing financial reporting and analysis to senior management. The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate, transparent and comparable financial information is delivered in a timely manner to internal customers as well as provide analysis of financial results to support regulatory filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The incumbent will work closely with business and functional finance personnel as well as senior management.  This role requires excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. The incumbent will be required to respond quickly to requests from senior management. The individual in this role will serve as the Corporate Reporting subject matter expert for PVC (Price/Volume/Currency), Sales, Management Cash Flow, and depreciation and amortization (D&A) and is expected to own all related processes, reporting, and analysis and be able to articulate results and drivers to internal customers and senior leadership.

Critical areas of responsibility include:

• Preparation of PVC reporting and related sales analysis, as well as other ad hoc sales reporting and analysis.
• Preparation of Management Cash Flow.
• Depreciation and amortization reporting and analysis.
• Preparation and review of various other monthly and quarterly Corporate Reporting deliverables.
• Preparation and review of other ad hoc reporting and analysis based on requests from internal customers or senior management, ensuring accurate and timely information is delivered.

Summary of This Role

Performs a broad range of accounting functions with responsibility for accounting records in a small office or organization department. Assigns transaction codes to documents. Ensures documents being processed are included in the appropriate accounting period. Posts, balances, and closes subsidiary ledgers. Follows up on delinquent accounts receivable customers. Analyzes and verifies internal consistency, completeness, and accuracy of account documents and makes adjustments.

What Part Will You Play?

• Performs more clerical accounting functions supporting the accounting department and other accounting associates to include entering routine travel expenses or invoice data into system, typing memos, scanning, filing, and providing documentation. Occasionally assists in verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records. Assists in performing simple balancing, reconciliations, corrections to rejections, and accounting errors, containing basic calculations, as directed.
• Functions as a first point of contact for internal clients, external clients, or vendors for routine accounting questions and inquiries. Assists in researching issues or complaints for client/customer disputes.
• Updates and maintains accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (i.e. disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable). Enters data into computer system using legacy computer programs. Compiles data and prepares a variety of standardized reports, as directed, to be reviewed by more experienced associates or management. Retains supporting documentation as defined by record retention guidelines, for audit purposes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the local, business unit and San Antonio/GenPact finance teams to maintain the financial integrity for all activities associated with the Sumter manufacturing facility, as well as Global IDS Quality function.

• Leads all aspects of all planning, reporting, and analysis of Standard Product Costing, Manufacturing Variances, Inventory, and its component parts.

• Assists both internal and external auditors with their periodic review of the BD Specimen Management financial records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings.

• Responsible for maintaining capital investment strategy and reporting by partnering with project management.

The Corporate Accounting Team is responsible for timely and accurate delivery of all day-to-day accounting and close activities at Corporate Finance, including general accounting, hedging, foreign exchange accounting, pension, benefits, intercompany, partnering with Enterprise Systems Team on ERP (SAP/Costpoint) accounting governance matters, and global statutory reporting.

Summary of the job duties include:

Accounting:

• Responsible for timely and accurate delivery of all day-to-day accounting and close activities at Corporate Finance, including general accounting, hedging, foreign Exchange Accounting, pension, benefits, intercompany and global statutory reporting

Qualifications, Experience and Behavioral requirements

• Accounting degree at an advanced level; CPA or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• Work experience of 10-15 years in various F&A roles
• 3-4 years of management experience
• Experience with SAP, Costpoint, NextGen EPM, Hyperion HFM, Microsoft Dynamics (preferred)
• Should have worked in a SOX process environment with multi-national organization of repute
• Experience of working in a virtual environment and dealing with stakeholders at senior leadership level from diverse background and nationalities
• Strong interpersonal skills including communication (both verbal and written) and articulation and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
• Business savvy, ability to work with tight timelines and pressure
• Should display continuous improvement mindset and should have led process improvements; candidate with knowledge on lean / Six Sigma preferred

Title:

KBR is looking for an Accounting Manager (AM) to join our team for an exciting opportunity supporting the USAID NexGen Global Health Supply Chain Program. This is a full-time position that will accommodate a hybrid remote/office work schedule, but will require occasional travel to the Washington, D.C. area and potential overseas travel. The AM will work under the direct supervision of the Business Manager and serves as the main point of contact for end-to-end accounting management operations.  Must be a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve goals.

Responsible for accounting policies and procedures involving the maintenance of a precise general ledger, analysis of balance sheet accounts, and management financial reporting. Under general direction, is accountable for the performance and results of a related discipline or sub-group within a function. Manages the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to team members. Participates in the development of functional strategy and may be responsible for global processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Review monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations performed by the team; ensuring timely, adequate, and complete reconciliations with adequate explanations for any variances that may exist.
• Oversee organizational and professional development of accounting staff, as needed
• Oversee the monthly close process; preparing / approving month-end journal entries and participate in resolving potential issues and communicating any possible close related delays
• Work to assess the adequacy of existing or required new Internal controls
• Provide monthly/quarterly reports and analysis to internal & external auditors and respond regarding periodic information requests.
• Work cross-functionally with multiple functions to evaluate potential change orders and their accounting impact
• Support monthly reporting of budgets/forecasts to corporate FP&A and Treasury
• Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions
• Ensure project funding requirements are met to ensure positive project cash flow
• Maintain adequate documentation in support of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and assessments
• Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls
• Perform various ad-hoc analyses and other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Finance)
• 10+ years of experience in Accounting / Finance, including 2+ years of supervisory/managerial experience
• Preferred experience with Joint Venture projects
• Experience with standard government agency (particularly USAID) reporting requirements
• Proficiency in project finance assessments, cost analysis, forecasting, budget development
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
• Preferred proficiency in Deltek/Costpoint and IFS
• Proactive innovator with ability to prioritize effectively
• Strong communication skills, critical thinking, and problem solving
• Possess confidence, flexibility and is a team player
