As an Inpatient Psychologist you will be:

• Providing specialist psychological assessments, and individualised evidence-based psychological interventions for young adults with severe eating disorders and complex mental health difficulties.
• Providing evidence-based and formulation-driven psychological perspectives to multidisciplinary risk management, care planning and decision-making.
• Managing a complex caseload as the individual psychological therapist working within a multidisciplinary team, in addition to facilitating group psychological interventions and family/systemic interventions.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

Duties may vary from team to team but may include the following: Work within the NHS All Age Continuing Care team with responsibility for co-ordination and delivery of needs/eligibility assessment, case management and review of patients under the relevant frameworks for NHS Continuing Healthcare, Funded Nursing Care, Fast Track, Childrens Complex Care and All Age Continuing Care. Use specialist knowledge and clinical skills to ensure that cases and outcomes are managed in a consistent, equitable, safe and cost effective, ensuring appropriate and proportionate application and interpretation of the relevant frameworks and guidance. Work closely with hospitals, community services and care providers to develop systems and processes to facilitate a smooth assessment and referral process under the supervision of case co-ordinators. Regularly review, under the supervision of Senior Clinical Assessors, the clinical needs of the patient with regard to appropriateness of the placement, level of care being provided and entitlement to NHS Funded care. Use good verbal and written communication skills to communicate with patients, their families and other professionals. The production of accurate, detailed and comprehensive reports is essential. Support the duty coordinator function as required and undertake other duties at the request of the line manager, which are commensurate with the role including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover. • Provide an advanced level of specialized nursing care to complex, critically ill patients having multiple complicating conditions.
• Independently make decisions and implement proper emergency measures after identifying and interpreting life-threatening conditions.
• Administer special medications via oral, intra-muscular, subcutaneous, intradermal and intravenous.
• Assist in the performance of endotracheal intubation and administer a variety of respiratory therapy treatments as prescribed.
• Consult with physician regarding medical and nursing management.
