The Inpatient Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Unit Registered Nurse (RN) demonstrates leadership and mastery of practice in delivering/providing medical surgical/telemetry nursing care to wide assortment with medical-surgical diagnoses in an efficient, comprehensive, and continuous patient-driven holistic care through active collaboration, communication and coordination of resources to a variety of patients. The Inpatient Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN performs initial history and assessment, patient teaching/education, Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), and verification of informed consent.
Other major duties include: electrocardiogram, intravenous pumps, tube feeding, ceiling lifts, pulse oximetry, glucometer management, telemetry monitoring, and follows appropriate respiratory isolation standards. He /she demonstrates clinical competence and leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others such as patients, their family members/ significant other and members of the interdisciplinary team. He/she is self-directed in goal setting, and, in the management of complex patient situations utilizing the nursing process. He/she demonstrates the ability to identify an issue, analyze it, develop and implement interventions. The Inpatient Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Unit RN completes initial assessments and reassessments of patient condition and response to treatment.
He/she initiates follow-up as needed. He/she administers prescribed therapies using appropriate judgment; evaluation of therapies is pertinent and timely.
