The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an exciting trailblazer project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community.

We are looking for a confident CAMHS professional, with experience of providing evidence-based interventions. You will be a CYP mental health practitioner (Family & Systemic Psychotherapist / Clinical Psychologist / Counselling Psychologist / Educational Psychologist / Occupational Therapist / Registered Nurse / Social Worker/ Senior CWP or EMHP).

The Luton MHST will be working to reduce health inequalities in communities where these are most prominent, working closely with the schools and other external partners addressing their most prominent needs, by implementing whole schools approaches and targeted interventions. Luton is a very diverse locality, with high levels of the young population having English as an additional language.

In addition to providing comprehensive consultation, assessment, risk management and interventions for young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties in schools, the post holder will supervise more junior colleagues.

Education and Training Participate actively in the hospital induction programme and in the departmental local induction. Be an active member of the in-service training programme by attending and participating in department in-service training sessions, tutorials, individual training sessions, external courses and peer review. Participate in the supervision and training of newly appointed TA/TI/HCAs eg teaching basic elements of patient care, ISW role, manual handling, health and safety policies, and inducting staff into the ward environment. To attend all agreed trust mandatory training sessions and keep up-to date with e-learning in accordance with the trusts training and appraisal policies. Provide advice and instruction to patients to explain any procedures being undertaken.
