Job Description

The Teacher of Design and Technology is an exciting addition to the Gloucester academy team.

The Department:

Gloucester Academy has one experienced full time DT and Engineering teacher and one full time experienced Hospitality and Catering teacher both which are supported by their own technician. We are expanding the departments currently and have successfully hired an additional hospitality and catering teacher and are now looking for a DT/ engineering teacher to complete the team. All members of the team have experience of working in industry and have a focus of encouraging a real love of the subject with our students and the wider school. We build a culture of learning through theory, design and skills-based tasks to ensure well rounded students within the subject who can respond to an industry standard brief as well as prepare them to demonstrate everyday life skills.

The DT department is committed to ensuring that all students from KS3 and KS4 are exposed to a World Class Curriculum that offers them the opportunity of first class teaching and learning. A curriculum which offers full coverage of the vital key skills and knowledge needed in order to achieve high end outcomes at GCSE and to develop a love of the design that surrounds them. DT embodies some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality Design education should engage, inspire and challenge students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works designs. As students’ progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of design. They should also know how design both reflects and shapes our history, and contributes to our culture.

Curriculum:

At Key stage 3 Students have 2 hours of DT and one hour of Food and Nutrition per fortnight. These lessons are taught to tutor groups and are not part of a carrousel but rather taught continuously throughout the year. At Key stage 4 we offer Engineering and Hospitality and Catering which are both incredibly popular which is why we are increasing the department.

All Year 11s attend a weekly period 6 after school, this time is used for exam practice and to support students with essential coursework. We are excited to broaden the number of subjects that we offer so are open to applicants with other areas of expertise across the design technology framework.

The duties and responsibilities in this job description are not restrictive and the post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time. Any such duties should not however substantially change the general character of the post.

Resources:

In each classroom there is a visualiser which the team uses during every part of every lesson. Each student has their own mini whiteboard enabling teachers to assess their class with ease.

In the school we have a fully functioning DT lab with a brand-new laser cutter, 3-D printers and welding stations kitted out with new equipment. DT have their own computer suite that they use for DT and coursework write up. The kitchens are fully functioning and we have a dedicated hospitality and catering suite that is available to use if required.

Security Support Manager

The Opportunity

The role is part of the Security Engineering department within Enterprise Information Security. EIS is responsible for providing security services to the wider EDF UK group. Engineering is a team of approx. 30 security engineering professionals responsible for securing our cloud environments, data centres, and EDF offices across the country.

What You’ll be doing:

- You will manage a team of security support engineers and focus on developing how our security support services are run. You will be able to directly shape the way in which the team operates and develops.
- Assist in supporting our customers that consume our security services and ensure any issues or Requests or Incidents are being handled accordingly.
- Implement security assurance standards to govern how our services our supported.
- Work with our service delivery teams to develop and implement our security support capabilities and service offerings, we’ll need you to help refine our SLAs that we offer to our customers.
- Establishing new KPIs that we will be using to measure our team’s performance
- Help us transform from an internal security team to an internal security service provider.
- Work closely with colleagues from the wider team to produce an asset lifecycle program to ensure all our security control environment remains fully supported.
- Ensure the team operate an effective monitoring and capacity management capability.
- Working with our wider security community, perform security posture management to validate our security control landscape, and ensure remedial actions are taken appropriately.
- Help shape and then test our security controls and contribute towards improving our overall posture.
- Establish development and training plans for the engineers.



What You Bring:

- Proven background in managing a technical security team in large complex regulated enterprises.
- Good understanding of enterprise security engineering controls
- Previous experience in managing engineers responsible for maintaining technical platforms or direct experience in doing so.
- Previous experience in managing engineers responsible for providing support services or direct experience in doing so.
- Any experience of either next generation firewalls, SASE products and vulnerability management tooling would be beneficial.
- Strong influencing and persuasion skills, building trust-based relationships.
- Clear and concise communication skills with senior leadership.
- Experience in producing reporting & collating KPI data to an executive audience.
- Passion for cybersecurity and leading high-performing teams.
- Experience using ITSM Platforms or Project Management Toolsets
- Stakeholder management, and great customer facing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision and to integrate well within a team.

The Opportunity

Join the Nuclear IT Services team within Nuclear Operations, focusing on developing and supporting Nuclear Operations Information Systems.
In this role, you will act on behalf of the Head of Function for IT Cyber Security, setting and ensuring IT technical standards and controls to mitigate cyber risks. You will direct a matrix team to deliver effective IT cyber controls and improvements, while communicating the impact of these controls on overall cyber risk. Additionally, you will maintain governance and oversight, analyse gaps in technical controls, identify risks, and oversee mitigation actions. You will also respond to and direct improvements in a dynamic IT cyber risk environment, making decisions on IT control changes and cyber security requirements for Nuclear Operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the security and integrity of Nuclear Operations' IT infrastructure, offering an exciting opportunity for those passionate about cyber security and governance.

The main location for this role will be Gloucester Business Park, however we welcome applications throughout the UK and will accommodate those who are unable to get to the Gloucester location. This role will be predominantly remote, but there will be a need to go into the office for emergencies.

What you’ll be doing

As the IT Cybersecurity Leader for Nuclear Operations, you will develop and maintain cybersecurity standards, contribute to crisis management and strategy, and establish metrics and reporting capabilities. Leading the Cyber Assurance Team, you will provide assurance for IT Cyber projects, ensure compliance with best practices, and coordinate during incidents.

- You will oversee assurance reviews, implement improvement plans, and manage security controls. This role involves managing a team, traveling as needed, and participating in emergency arrangements.
- Develop standards, contribute to crisis management and strategy, and establish metrics.
- Lead the Cyber Assurance Team, provide project assurance, and coordinate during incidents.
- Oversee services and products, set performance standards, and address shortfalls.
- Plan assurance reviews, implement improvement plans.
- Categorise sensitive information, assess risk management plans, and provide expert advice.
- Manage a team, travel as needed, and participate in emergency arrangements.
- Report to the Senior Manager, Governance & Assurance. Collaborate with the Business Information Security Owner (BISO), Nuclear Information Security Owner (NISO), Enterprise IT Lead team, outsourced service providers, and Programme and Service Managers.


Who you are

You will be degree level education or significant experience in the Nuclear/Electricity energy industry or relevant sector. Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, CCSP, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) would be beneficial.
You should have familiarity with key business applications, information management in Nuclear Operations, and a range of security technologies (Azure identity management, Windows security controls, firewall technologies). Expertise in security hardening, testing, vulnerability management, and standards like ISO27001, NIST, CAF, Cyber Essentials.
Proficient in cyber security risk management and governance in line with laws and regulations (including SNI and export control). Effective line and people management skills, ability to motivate and lead teams, and develop talent.
