The Assistant Chief Nurse, Nursing Operations reports to the Chief Nurse, Operations. They serve as a key member of the nursing leadership team and hold shared responsibility for all aspects of care that fall under the operations service line including Emergency Department, and Surge Team, Nursing Supervisors, Resource/Float pool, Patient Safety Nursing Assistant Pools, Inpatient Transport Team, Wound Care Team, PICC Team, Inpatient Diabetic Educator, and Nursing Timekeepers. They are responsible for supporting the Chief Nurse, Operations, Deputy ADPCS, and ADPCS in providing administrative oversight and direction for all programs within the service.

- The Assistant Chief Nurse, Nursing Operations collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and network. They work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide. The Chief Nurse, Nursing Operations relates effectively with customers, families, the community, and program and service leaders at the local and network levels
- The Assistant Chief Nurse, Nursing Operations supports the development and administration of service-related administrative and clinical programs, utilizing the nursing process as appropriate. They provide leadership and guidance to subordinates, assisting them in carrying out the expected functions and activities. They serve as a change agent, helping others understand the importance, impact, and process of implementing mindset change and continuous quality improvement
- The Assistant Chief Nurse supports the Chief Nurse, Deputy ADPCS, and ADPCS in ensuring all staff under their supervision understand and follow accreditation and regulatory compliance. They review various dashboards and metrics to identify trends, implement early intervention, and formulate follow-up plans with multidisciplinary administrative and clinical stakeholders to ensure high-performing teams.
