We are seeking to appoint an exceptional nurse leader to lead the nursing team within the Cancer Services Division at the Royal Marsden to cover a 12 month maternity leave. The role is a key part of the Divisional Management team working alongside the Divisional Director to support the Clinical Business units. The role has professional accountability for the workforce, service delivery, service strategy, clinical quality, governance and safety; and the implementation of the Trust’s Nursing strategy. The Divisional Nurse Director is also a key senior nurse within the Trust professionally accountable to the Chief Nurse and is responsible for the development and delivery of clinical and professional standards and the development of leadership competence and capacity within nursing.
The successful candidate will be an experienced and credible nurse leader with the ability to motivate and inspire staff to deliver the highest possible clinical and professional standards. You will be a clinical role model and will be passionate about improvement and patient-centred care. You will possess relevant professional qualifications plus additional specialist management knowledge, acquired through training and experience.

• To provide visible, supportive and high profile professional leadership for all nurses within the division.
• To fulfil at least four clinical shifts a month working with junior and senior nurses in the division, rotating throughout the wards / units in the division across both sites.
• To be accountable for the provision of optimum nursing care within the Division in accordance with the NMC and Trust Standards

• To contribute to the Divisions corporate strategic and operational management, alongside the Divisional Medical Director and Clinical Business Managers, ensuring delivery of the Trusts service and business strategy set by the Board.
• To deputise for the Chief Nurse, Deputy Chief Nurse and Divisional Director as appropriate.
• To actively participate in Trust-wide nursing and other clinical developments, taking the lead on projects as required.
