As a software engineer, you will be part of a team that develops and maintains the software that manages the access and allocation of beamtime for external users.


You will be responsible for:

• Working with stakeholders to identify user requirements and design solutions.
• Developing and testing Java and Python enterprise level software that meets specifications.
• Using CI/CD to release and deploy software to enterprise servers following an agreed process, including database integration.
• Supporting production systems, actively investigating and resolving incidents, interacting with staff and external users.
• Implementing interfaces to internal and external independent systems. Advising other service owners regarding how to interface with the system.
• Resolving reported bugs in the system; and working with the team lead and science stakeholders to ensure they are fixed in a timely manner.
• Producing and maintaining documentation that describes system operation for its users and advising them on system use.
• Investigating new software development tools and techniques and advising the team on how they might be used.

To be successful in this role,

• You will need to have a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• You will also need to have proficiency in Java and Python programming languages, and familiarity with web development frameworks and tools.
• You will also need to have experience with CI/CD, relational databases, web-based graphical interfaces, system integration, software testing, software documentation, software quality assurance, and agile software development methodologies.
• You will also need to have excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a keen interest in science and technology.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Response is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Rowan House team. Rowan House is home to 25 residents with acute mental health needs. The team focuses on supporting residents through person-centred planning and individual goals to aid recovery. The aim is to support residents to take an active role in their recovery to reach their full potential. Some of the core duties include:


You will provide a safe and comfortable environment for our residents to live and colleagues to work, whilst also empowering Support Workers to feel confident in their role.
Lead by example and take the role of Shift Lead - ensuring that all members of the team are aware of daily tasks and notes are completed and updated as appropriate.
Be the first point of contact handling all queries and requests from internal and external partners responding in a timely manner delegating as appropriate,
Lead in times of incidents in the absence of the manager and deputy, ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to
Mentor and support new team members in their role
Responsible for leading on projects to enhance the service.
Support the development of person-centred planning, ensuring resident’s plans have meaningful and achievable goals
Ensure support plans and risk management plans are implemented as necessary, in line with policies and procedures.
Support residents with medication concordance.
Undertake an enabling role with the resident in daily tasks such as cleaning, shopping, budgeting, and household tasks that promote independent living.
Lead and promote social inclusion work by introducing residents to leisure activities, new interests, education, or volunteering
Maintain clean, safe working environments and communal areas
Working with clinical teams, attending CPAs and multi-disciplinary team meetings
