Oversee the day-to-day management of the waiting list officers, elective access officers, outpatient receptionists and clinic prep assistants within the Directorate.
 Ensure that all patients are booked in accordance with the Trust Elective Access Policy, by clinical priority and by length of Referral to Treatment (RTT) waiting time

The post holders duties will be at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. Specifically, the and respiratory in-patient components will be carried out at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford or the Horton Hospital Banbury. Other respiratory components are delivered at the John Radcliffe, the Churchill and Horton General Hospitals, or at the Community Diagnostic Centre. The post is to principally support delivery of COPD and pleural services. OUH has a strong background in delivering excellent COPD care across both primary and secondary care, and works closely with the community COPD MDT within Oxford Health. This post will continue to drive this relationship forward, whilst also supporting the provision of tertiary COPD care, including endobronchial valves. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to research in COPD and link this into pleural disease through the management of pneumothorax. The post holder will integrate within the internationally leading pleural team at OUH, contributing to procedural lists (including thoracoscopy). It is envisaged that the successful candidate will lead the development of ambulatory pneumothorax pathways. The postholder will contribute to the mesothelioma and lung caner MDTs. The clinical component of the role will provide senior expertise in managing adults with pleural disease and general respiratory out-patients, as well as in-patients and on-call working, with approximately a 4 week ward duty period per annum. This is a Band 6 post, mainly based at the Churchill in Oxford, but with the vision of offering services at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury and John Radcliffe Hospitals in due course. The department works closely with the University and the Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit and there are excellent opportunities to participate in research projects in partnership with the university and the Trials Unit. The Lung Function Lab provides a vital service to patients with respiratory disease and also in supporting a number of other clinical services within the Trust who rely heavily on the skills provided by this specialist team. You will gain training and experience in carrying out the full range of respiratory investigations including Spirometry, Gas transfer test, Static Lung Volume assessments, Lying & standing Vital Capacity or Mouth pressures, Post Bronchodilator reversibility studies, Methacholine Challenge testing, Exhaled Nitric Oxide tests, Fitness to Fly test, Capillary blood gases, CPAP/NIV set ups.
