A vacancy has arisen in the Nuclear and Reactor Physics team for an experienced, high calibre reactor physicist with a particular interest in undertaking and leading applied nuclear and reactor physics projects on behalf of our customers in Advanced Nuclear Technology (ANT) and current generation reactor technology. There is the opportunity for the successful applicant to lead projects multi-discipline projects. The role will also support and provide leadership in our Core Science Themes such as Reactor Technology as well as NNL Focus areas (Security & Non-proliferation and Clean Energy).

The role has responsibility for technical leadership of nuclear new build and advanced reactor physics capabilities involving technologies such as (but not limited to):

• High Temperature Gas Reactors (HTGR)
• Small Modular Reactors (SMR)
• Molten Salt Reactors (MSR)
• Research reactors and micro reactors
• Space reactor technology

The role holder will not be expected to have experience and knowledge of all of these reactor types, however sufficient relevant knowledge and experience will be required to lead technical projects or research that related to them. The role holder will work with Account Directors and Project Managers to identify, capitalise on and lead opportunities in relevant areas.

The job holder will ideally be able to demonstrate expertise and experience from the areas of core neutronics, thermal hydraulics, whole-plant assessments of nuclear plants in normal operation, frequent faults, infrequent faults and design basis faults and safety justification. The role holder is expected to have expert working practitioner experience in core neutronics or thermal hydraulics, but previous experience in any of the other areas would also be valuable.

The role holder will work closely with junior staff (or colleagues), focussing in particular on the skills and capability development of junior staff or colleagues in relevant areas of expertise. The role also has accountability for the development, delivery and deployment of software relevant to the capability where required.

The successful applicant will be required to gain SC Clearance. Location is flexible, although attendance at an NNL site will be required as deemed by work requirements specified by the line manager.

Main Responsibilities for Principal Reactor Physicist:

• Initiating and leading significant national / international customer, Science and Technology (S&T) programmes related to reactor physics, reactor technology or related disciplines.
• Perform the duties of a cross discipline technical lead and subject matter expert on projects in the area of reactor physics or fields related to the role.
• Supporting the development and progression of the capability strategy for reactor physics.
• Lead and deliver on customer projects to time, in budget, and to required environmental, health, safety, security and quality (EHSS&Q) standards.
• Delivery of technical work to a high quality including authoring, checking and approval of technical calculations, documents and presenting work performed to customers, at international conferences, or project meetings.
• Carrying out neutronics or reactor physics calculations using recognised code packages and in-house codes where required.
• Providing technical guidance to team members to support skills and capability development in reactor physics through the verifying of reactor physics assessments and knowledge transfer.
• Leading in building and maintaining strong collaborative links within NNL and with partner/ client organisations nationally and internationally (including universities, international nuclear laboratories and international nuclear research centres and supply chain partners), providing expert, authoritative advice.
• Representing NNL & UK, contributing to, influencing and leading where appropriate, national and international working or expert groups, maximising the benefit for NNL.
• Support the Capability Manager, Customer Workstream Leads and Account Directors on promotion of NNL and its work (including writing articles for scientific journals, trade magazines and NNL corporate publications, producing conference papers, and preparing presentations).

I am working with a reputable manufacturing business in Accrington, who are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a full time and permanent basis. This is a newly created role, following growth of the business and you will be working alongside another Payroll Officer, who has been with the business for over 10 years.

Your new role
As a Payroll Officer, you will be an integral part of an experienced team, responsible for preparing the monthly and weekly payroll for up to 300 employees across multiple sites in the UK. Your duties will include managing the full end-to-end payroll process, performing payroll reconciliations, and posting nominal journals. Following some recent acquisitions, you will be assisting the payroll department with the integration of the new businesses, into the inhouse payroll function. You will also coordinate with the HR department to ensure employee records are up to date and all new starter information is available. Additionally, you will assist the accounts team with various tasks when not preparing payroll. This is a full time role, working Monday to Friday with flexible working hours, giving you an optional early Friday finish.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you should have experience in a similar payroll position, handling end-to-end payroll processes. Proficiency in using Sage Line 50 and strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, are essential. You should be well-organised, able to deliver in a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent time management skills to meet strict deadlines. A self-motivated attitude and keen attention to detail are also crucial for this role.

I am working with an established, growing Social Housing Contractor who specialise within decarbonisation/energy efficiency works and are a leading specialist within their field.

They are currently recruiting a Site Manager to join them on a permanent basis. This is working on a project in the Preston area, and the project will consist of the installation of EWI, Air Source Heat Pumps, IWI, re-roofing and windows and doors installation to tenanted properties.

Experience in managing retrofit/decarbonisation schemes to Social Housing is desirable.

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for running the site, with occasional visits from the Contracts Manager. Your duties will be:

• Managing a site team including Tradesman, Subcontractors and Tenant Liaison Officer, ensuring works are being carried out to programme and within budget
• Monitoring health and safety on site
• Attending progress meetings, client meetings
• Liaising with tenants and resolving any issues that may arise

The successful candidate must have a background within Social Housing, with experience of working on Retrofit projects.

• You will be supported to undertake your non-medical prescribing qualification.

• You will participate in the late-night and/or on-call rotas at a frequency of 1 shift in 3 weeks. Two pharmacists work in the dispensary until it closes at 7pm, after which on-call is undertaken from home by a third pharmacist who has a work laptop and mobile.

Pharmacy is a large and forward-thinking department. Whilst being spread across sites and having a large number of staff we are very welcoming to all and have a fantastic legacy of assistants, technicians and pharmacists who have worked with us for very many years, several of whom have progressed in their roles within ELHT Pharmacy.

We have a large cohort of Non-Medical Prescribers (NMPs) and are actively encouraging all our pharmacists to become NMPs, with plans in place for our staff up until the registration of trainee pharmacists in 2026 who will have this qualification embedded into their undergraduate degree.

We have strong links with our local universities with three teacher practitioners who support junior pharmacists and provide teaching to medical and pharmacy undergraduates.

In addition to our clinical specialist pharmacists, we have dedicated pharmacy staff working within; Homecare, Rheumatology, Medicines Information and the Medicines Support Team (a department dedicated to supporting patients post-discharge and optimising their medicines with home visits and recommendations to their GP/healthcare provider).
