This position is responsible for the direction of a highly complex consolidated Radiology program that includes General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Molecular Imaging, Positron Emission Tomography, General Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology programs. The incumbent performs duties related to the receipt, intake, and indexing of health and administrative information and supervises all Advanced Medical Support Assistants (AMSA) in the service.

The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (SMSA) is responsible for ensuring the management of accurate and timely patient care coordination in all divisions and modalities of Radiology, coordinating all clinic administrative support activities in conjunction with the Administrative Officer (AO), Chief of Radiology, and other staff to provide adequate administrative staff coverage to assure quality patient care coordination. Will serve as an active member of the Radiology supervisory team, keeping the AO informed on all matters requiring their attention and/or action. Participates in the formulation of plans and determination of goals with the service and conducts Continuous Quality Improvement reviews in program areas. The incumbent is delegated authority necessary to accomplish assigned programs, performing the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities to effectively utilize the manpower and resources allocated to the Radiology. This includes setting team goals and technically directing the work of

personnel. Develops and administers a formal continuous improvement plan or method for reviewing and appraising the effectiveness of all Radiology activities. Analyzes and reports information gathered as a basis in making improvements in efficiency to the veteran. Plans training programs for Medical Support Assistants, develops and maintains an efficient work force of employees which is an integral part of the clinic operation. Provides technical and clerical assistance to the professional staff on all administrative matters and activities. • Performing observation-based screening, collecting patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel. This may involve obtaining patient health/medication history, and information about health-related or high- ill complete approved templates and tools.

This can include assisting licensed personnel with crisis intervention, assisting with observation and documentation of aggressive or suicidal psychiatric patients by providing one-tone observations and applying Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) techniques.
• Medication administration will comply with national directives and local policies utilizing Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) as required and whenever applicable. Administration methods may include intramuscular, oral, topical, eye drops, ear drops, intranasal, intraosseous, rectal suppositories, normal saline IV push, local anesthetics, nebulized medications, subcutaneous, and intradermal.

• Maintain daily stocks and makes ready supplies such as lab and phlebotomy totes, blood glucose caddies, nurse servers, patient rooms, organize and clean supply room.

Bend is a city in Central Oregon and the county seat of Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. It is located to the east of the Cascade Range, on the Deschutes River. The site became known by pioneers as a fordable crossing point of the river, where it was ran through a bend. The Home Based Primary Care or (HBPC) Outpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex HBPC care. This nurse provides direct Veteran care and care coordination, as it pertains, to Veterans and their care within the HBPC Program.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for case management, assessment, triage, Veteran education, resource coordination, medication and treatment coordination, and care planning.

The Chief of Imaging is responsible for leading and managing the VAPORHCS Imaging Service to ensure outstanding, cost-effective care is delivered in all areas of the service; further the educational and research missions of VAPORHCS, in collaboration with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and other academic affiliates; and oversee and administer the human and fiscal resources devoted to carrying out the clinical, training, and research missions. If Board Certified may be considered for an academic appointment as an Associate or Full Professor in the School of Medicine at Oregon Health & Sciences University.

Scope of the position includes, but not limited to:

• Collaborate effectively with other VAPORHCS clinical service leaders in the development and execution of the overarching VAPORHCS strategic and business plan, ensuring coordination of service, reduction of redundancies, and enhancement of cost effectiveness.
• Build and articulate the Imaging Service vision with related goals, strategies, and tactics that promote care delivery that is both of high quality and efficient and that emphasize Veteran satisfaction.
• Manage proactively and efficiently a broad continuum of programs including all associated personnel, equipment, supplies, space, contracts and information system resources.
• Instill a culture of data fluency in which all leaders within the Service will have facility with tools available to measure and monitor safety, quality, access, efficiency, productivity, and Veteran and employee experience, and will use these tools as appropriate to benchmark performance, help shape resource allocation decisions, and target opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain policies, procedures, and clinical practices that accord with contemporary, evidence-based practices in inpatient and emergency settings and with national standards as established by VHA, The Joint Commission, and other accrediting bodies.
• Ensure that all business operations and health information practices within the Imaging Service adhere to the laws, regulations and standards which govern those activities, the reasonable expectations of VHA's business partners, and the highest standards of Compliance and Business Integrity.
• Stay abreast of changing conditions in health care within and external to VA, and encourage demonstration projects, pilots and other experimental approaches aimed at improving clinical outcomes/satisfaction and/or increasing revenue.
