We wish to appoint 1 Senior Clinical fellow at ST/CT 3-8 in Acute Medicine on a 12-month contract. The post is based in the Acute Medicine department at the Bristol Royal Infirmary that will work across both our Acute Medicine Assessment unit and within our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit. The post has a potential negotiable on-call commitment, at the same frequency as the other SpRs.

The Acute Medicine Team covers 34 in-patient beds across a Acute Medicine Assessment unit and Medical SDEC unit which is comprised of a 30 person waiting room and 10 cubicles within our treatment area. There are opportunities to also be involved in the Acute Medicine Clinic and AKI Clinic, accepting the full range of acutely unwell patients.

For this Senior Clinical Fellow post, we are looking for a candidate to work 10-6pm, normal working days, predominantly on our Medical SDEC unit but also Acute Medicine Assessment Unit when needed. The purpose of this post is to provide senior leadership to our Medical SDEC unit and clinical teams who work within it. We would be looking for the successful candidate to help lead with service development and exploring ideas to help further the success of our SDEC department.

The Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) has 520 beds and is the city's main teaching hospital. The Out-Patient Department holds Clinics for all the major specialties and deals with 153,600 patients per year. The Hospital's Emergency Department deals with 70% of the City's accident cases. Separate units for Haematology, Oncology, Eye, Dental, Children and Maternity cases are within a radius of a quarter of a mile.

We require excellent communication skills to facilitate safe operational management of the services provided.

You will also be responsible for the clinical governance of your area, ensuring patient and staff safety and always striving for a high quality patient experience.

You will work closely with the other Trust endoscopy sites including the Day Surgery and Endoscopy Unit team at South Bristol Community Hospital and the Endoscopy Unit at Weston General Hospital. You will also work closely with the relevant Clinical Nurse Specialists and the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. The department is shared with the Queens Day Unit Theatres, who operate in hours. UHBW provides secondary and tertiary services across the South West of England for a wide range of rheumatology conditions. The post is based in our state of the art rheumatology department including an outpatient clinical area, day-case facilities, DXA machine, ultrasound scanners, therapies area, offices, meeting rooms and attached rheumatology research unit.

We have made great steps to develop digitally-enabled outpatient care and to deliver paper-less practice. We have re-designed our service to maximise remote working, to enable patient-initiated consultations, to deliver care in multidisciplinary team clinics and to embed ultrasound scanning one stop into our inflammatory arthritis service. We run dedicated early inflammatory arthritis (EIA), CTD/Vasculitis (CTDVAS), transitional, osteoporosis, rare bone disease and ultra-sound clinics and deliver regular joint clinics with paediatric rheumatology, podiatry, orthopaedics, dermatology, and respiratory.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our clinical team for a full time 12-month post between September 2024 and September 2025. The post is available to applicants who have clinical experience and qualifications equivalent to ST3 level or above. The successful candidate will provide medical cover for our Rheumatology inpatients, working as part of a multi-professional team. They will also take part in outpatient clinics and see ward referrals from other teams. The successful applicant will join a dynamic, large and welcoming team to provide exceptional care for patients. Our junior team consists of one rheumatology registrar, one IMT3 registrar and one GP registrar.

The post-holder will be expected to take part in ward rounds both with a consultant and independently, and to support the junior team on the Rheumatology bed base wards. Our registrars have their own clinic lists alongside the consultants, they rotate weekly to support review of rheumatology patients on the wards and the delivery of urgent care in the rheumatology HOT week. Telephone enquiries from GPs and are usually handled by the Registrars, who also sign off laboratory investigations and support our biologics prescribing.

As a trainee you will be required to enrol on an approved ACP Apprenticeship or eportfolio route. You will be required to have an active eportfolio to evidence your competence across the acute med curriculum working towards qualification over a period of 3 dependent on academic and clinical experience, achieving a band 8a at the end. As a trainee it is expected you will work 30hrsclinical a week with 7.5hrs off shop floor. You will be allocated an educational supervisor, be well organised, IT savvy and have an excellent record of professional conduct. The successful candidate will expect regular educational teaching, short placements for learning opportunities in other areas of practice e.g. ED and ITU.

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse on Ward C805, Cardiology, in the Bristol Heart Institute.

The post is full-time and temporary until April 2025 whilst the current post holder is on a secondment. You will be expected to work a full range of shifts including long days, shorter shifts, weekends and nights.

We are looking for a dynamic experienced Nurse - Adult Registered who would like to develop their leadership skills. The post holder will be an experienced Band 5/6 nurse with cardiology experience who demonstrates excellent team working along with good communication and organisational skills.

The Heart Institute is a tertiary cardiac centre and treats patients from across the south west with complex cardiac conditions. Ward C805 has 30 inpatient beds plus 4 boarding beds. It provides care to patients with a wide range of acute cardiology issues such as acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmia, heart failure, valve disease and congenital heart defects.

The successful candidate will work in conjunction with an experienced nursing team to provide support and clinical expertise to all staff. They will also be supported in developing their managerial skills and extending their clinical skills and knowledge.

The post holder will be able to:
• Act as a clinical expert providing specialist knowledge and advice to both nurses and junior medical staff working within the unit. Act as a resource to other areas within the Trust as required.
• Work towards safe and timely discharge plans and ensure barriers to discharge are identified and acted on in a timely and appropriate manner.

At UHBW we are creating two new Transfer of Care Hubs to support our patients with discharge planning from admission through leaving hospital and into the community; one Hub at the Bristol Site and one at Weston General Hospital. The Transfer of Care Hub will bring together our community partners (Sirona), Local Authorities and Voluntary Sector colleagues across BNSSG to create a new team from multidisciplinary backgrounds.

The Transfer of Care Hub will bring together, Acute Trust Case Managers, and Patient Flow Coordinators, Social Workers, Local Authority Discharge Coordinators, Sirona Case Managers, Community OT's, the Homeless Team, Voluntary Services and Flow and Discharge Coordinators.

The aim is to work collaboratively and holistically to support patients to get 'Home First'. We are looking to recruit a number of Discharge and Flow Coordinators (for Bristol and Weston sites) to join the Transfer of Care Hub based on the wards.

Discharge and Flow Coordinator will support the effective management of patient discharge from hospital and will play a pivotal role in supporting ward-based colleagues with patient discharge plans (including managing patient expectations, supporting with practical elements relating to discharge; booking transport, ensuring TTA's and discharge summaries are done, checking equipment, liaising with onward care providers). You would be integral in providing an excellent service to our patients easing their transition home.

The position is full time, Mon-Fri 8am-4pm with weekend working on a rota.

UHBW are looking for a Clinical Fellow to join their Oral Medicine and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team. The successful candidate will spend 6 months with each speciality in a clinical role delivering outpatient clinics, inpatient and outpatient care. This role would suit an individual who is already experienced and must hold Full GDC registration. You will spend 6 months with our Oral Medicine department and 6 months in our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. You will develop experience in Inpatient and Outpatient care, Management for Oncology, Orthognathic, Dermatology, Trauma and Development Anomaly including Cleft,Care of patients under general and local anaesthesia including surgical exodontia.

Posts particularly suited to those considering a career in Maxillofacial Surgery. Resident on call commitment over an 8 week rotation.

Clinical activity is expected across 3 sites- Bristol Royal Infirmary/Bristol Dental Hospital, South Bristol Community Hospital & Weston General Hospital. Travel between hospitals, is required.

UHBW is on the hunt for an IT Service Desk Assistant to join our Service Desk team within Digital Services reporting to the Service Desk Deputy Manager. Experience with Windows 10, as well as Microsoft Office, particularly Office 365 would be an advantage, as would knowledge of Active Directory, and remote support tools. A technical background is advantageous but not essential. This role is based at the main hospital campus in central Bristol or at Weston General Hospital. A working knowledge of working within an ITIL framework would be an advantage.

Responsible for recording details of users’ problems:
• · Logging calls on the Service Desk system in accordance with departmental procedures as reported by Trust computer users
• · Logging calls emailed to the Service Desk inbox
• · Keeping the end user informed of progress as appropriate
• · Ensuring that all actions relating to the problem are recorded on the Service Desk system in a timely fashion
• · Reporting all exceptions to the Service Desk Manager for further escalation
