- The work includes controlling working budgets, and planning, coordinating and directing a construction program in support of civil works, military and environmental clean-up construction projects,
- The work includes a large and complex construction mission for Interagency and International Support (IIS) partners
- Civil works construction includes primarily flood control, and flood control dams, levees and channels, navigation structures, ecosystem restoration and recreation development.
- Military construction involves the full range of facilities for Army and AirForce installations including airfields, missile testing and launch facilities, infrastructure improvement, large family housing facilities
- Military construction also involves multi-storied hospitals, barracks complexes, administration facilities, wharf, pier and bridge infrastructure, aircraft and other fuel distribution and delivery facilities, etc.
- The environmental clean-up program focuses on remediation of hazardous, toxic and radiological wastes (HTRW) as well as unexploded ordinance cleanup for a variety of customers
- Responsibilities include Federal preparedness, response and recovery activities for domestic emergencies such as natural disasters, oil and hazardous spills.
- Hazard mitigation and civil disturbances, emergency water planning and preparedness planning and response to national security emergencies.
- Geographical area for civil works and military and IIS construction projects include Northern to Central California, Utah, and portions of Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming and Oregon
- The programs assigned to the Construction Division require a permanent staff which varies between 200 and 290 employees.
