What skills and experience we're looking for

Evidence of outstanding teaching ability

Clear subject knowledge, with experience of teaching A-level or clear potential to do so

Recent successful experience in the relevant faculty of a secondary school or academy

Evidence of successful impact on raising standards and improving student progress and outcomes

Sound and current knowledge and understanding of the changing curriculum at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and its relevance to our Academy

Evidence of developing the teaching and learning of others, demonstrating, promoting and encouraging outstanding classroom practice

What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governors of Abbeyfield School are seeking to make the appointment of a talented and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor, who will effectively supervise the learning of whole classes during the absence of the class teacher, delivering the work set. The post holder will also be expected to assist with other school activities. KEY TASKS

• Supervise the work of whole classes set by their class/subject teacher, in accordance with school policy.
• Manage the behaviour of students to ensure a constructive learning environment.

• Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures.

Overall Purpose and Responsibilities

• to ensure, in accordance with the Professional Standards for Teachers and within the statutory framework for Teacher Appraisal, the effective whole education of the pupils for which you have responsibility;
