We are representing a highly regarded main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction and building projects across various sectors, including education, commercial, and residential. Our client boasts an annual turnover of £150m and regularly undertakes projects up to £30m in value. They are currently seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to join their team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of a £25m school project in Coventry.
The Role: As the Senior Site Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of this major project, acting as the #2 to the Project Manager. You will take full responsibility for the management of the site, ensuring that all operations are conducted efficiently, safely, and to the highest standard. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a significant build, overseeing a dynamic and skilled team, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of the project.
Key Responsibilities: - Full responsibility for site management on a £25m school project
- Assisting the Project Manager in the overall management of the project
- Ensuring all health & safety protocols are strictly adhered to
- Managing site logistics, including material deliveries, plant, and equipment
- Overseeing subcontractors and ensuring their work is completed to a high standard
- Monitoring progress against the programme, ensuring milestones are met
- Ensuring the highest quality of work in line with the company and project standards
- Managing site documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and permits to work
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders
- Reporting regularly to the Project Manager and senior leadership team on progress
Key Requirements: - Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager within the construction sector, ideally on projects of similar size and complexity
- Strong background in managing projects ranging from £10m to £30m in value, preferably in education, commercial, or residential sectors
- Extensive knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to effectively manage multiple teams and subcontractors
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience working as part of a main contractor
- Valid SMSTS, CSCS card, and First Aid certifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
