More detail about the role We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Deputy Blood Sciences Manager with experience in managing Biochemistry and/or Haematology services in an acute NHS laboratory setting. Candidates will be experienced, energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a primary role to manage the Blood Sciences services at North Devon District Hospital within the remit of Blood Sciences Department, Royal Devon University Hospitals. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Blood Sciences Services. They will provide professional, technical and management leadership to staff employed within Blood Sciences and will be responsible for training and development, competence, monitoring work practice, absences and annual leave of the workforce. You will need to be fully conversant with the ISO:15189 standards for medical Laboratories and will have expert knowledge in the implementation of UKAS compliance Clinical Laboratories. The two laboratory sites operate as a single department and have a well developed and long standing partnership, sharing a single LIMS (EPIC) and in the advanced stages of the harmonisation of policies, procedures and working practices across both labs. The successful candidate will be required to continue with the planning and implementation of the program of integration and improvements, with an aim to harmonise all aspects of the Blood Science service. The successful candidate may be based at either site, but is expected to be on site at North Devon District Hospital for a minimum of two days per week. Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday Interview Date: To be confirmed Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a 5.5% pay award implemented from October 2024. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2023-4 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2023/24 | NHS Employers).
