Job Description: The Senior Data Modeller role is a key position in the Insight Data Architecture team within the Data & Digital function, contributing to organisation-wide insights and decision-making. The Senior Data Modeller will lead the design, creation, and maintenance of metadata repositories, data models, and operational metadata. The role involves defining physical table structures and semantic layers for various use cases, including transactional, streaming, data warehouse, or data science requirements. The ideal candidate should bring analytical problem-solving skills, scalability, and flexibility to their solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Data Digital and Technology team in delivering successful outcomes across team members and collaborating teams.
- Lead the determination of data layer requirements by analysing organizational and market needs.
- Set standards for data modelling and design tools, advising on their application.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define data strategy aligned with business goals.
- Lead the development, validation, publishing, and maintenance of data models to support organisational knowledge requirements.
- Provide mentorship to other modelling practitioners, validating modelling activities across the organisation.
- Design and maintain metadata repositories for easy understanding of data assets.
- Define, manage, and maintain data models using industry-standard tools across various data streams.
- Support the development, integration, administration, and evolution of data structures for efficiency and scalability.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of models, standards, and best practices.
Key Outputs and Deliverables:
- Lead the delivery of strategic assets, including Metadata Repositories, Enterprise Logical Data Model, and data flow diagrams.
- Define and embed a consistent approach to data modelling throughout the organisation.
- Develop principles and solutions enabling data models for direct use by business users.
- Cultivate a data-driven decision-making culture.
Essential Criteria:
- Strong experience developing OLAP data models.
- Strong experience leading the development and maintenance of metadata repositories, logical data models, and physical database structures.
- Demonstrable experience using data modelling tools and industry-standard techniques.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills on data-related topics.
Desirable Criteria:
- Track record of working within a cloud-based technology landscape.
- Experience in integrating complex, cross-organisation processes and data models in a regulated environment.
