- Perform data analysis to identify strategies designed to improve provider access, reduce administrative burdens for DoD and Medicare beneficiaries, and improve the cost effectiveness of the civilian/military health care delivery system.
- Oversee and set standards for Utilization Management practices consistent with the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations, American Nurses Association, Department of the Army and Department of Defense standards.
- Keep current on public policies, Department of Defense, Department of the Army regulations and guidance, legislative trends and health care trends that impact utilization management policies, programs, and procedures.
- Screen, disposition, and resolve issues with routine specialty care requests from the military treatment facility as well as other issues from the network providers.
- Develop materials to enhance public relationships, meet consumer needs, and promote appropriate utilization of resources.
- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, prepare schedules for completion of work, assign work to subordinates, and evaluate work performance of subordinates.
