The Role: 

At Morningstar, helping investors is what brings us together and drives our work. We are looking for software engineers who specialise in .Net, Vue.js and Azure to join our team, grow with us, introduce us to new ideas and develop products that empower our users. This role is with India Managed Portfolios team and You will have product ownership and responsibility for ensuring process and quality adherence through peer reviews, code reviews, test coverage and best practices.  You will act as the software guardian, owning non-functional requirements, architectural direction, and the quality of the code while addressing technical debt.  

Every day, you’ll manage a team and work with team members across disciplines developing products for investors. You’ll interact daily with our product owners/managers to understand our domain and create technical solutions that push us forward. We want to work with other engineers who bring knowledge and excitement about our opportunities. This position is based in our Mumbai office. 

Responsibilities 

• 10+ years of solid programming experience with C#/.NET, Vue.js, WebAPI. Experience with NET Core applications hosted on cross platform systems is a plus.

• Lead and manage a full stack software engineering team reporting to the Technology manager 
• Build well designed, well-engineered, stable, scalable products across a variety of markets 
• Architect and develop highly scalable REST API’s and web applications 
• Enforce good Agile practices (using JIRA) including test-driven development and continuous integration. 
• Apply DevOps practices in area of continuous and automated deployment. 
• Analyse and remediate production issues and build instrumentation and operational readiness into the systems architecture. 
•  Solve investors’ problems with technology, understanding market chaos at work and crafting technically appropriate interactive experiences to communicate effectively with individual investors. 
• Be passionate about quality, process, programming, and investing in general, seeing opportunities for improvement, seizing them, and then sharing your findings with others. 
• Familiarity or desire to become an Azure certified developer/architect 
• Own the technical backlog for the team and help to prioritise the tech debt items
• Take ownership of the success of the team with a "gets things done" attitude; the ability to understand and leverage new technologies, potentially wearing many hats including business analyst, DBA, QA, and project manager.
• Architect and develop highly scalable REST API’s and web applications 
• Familiarity or desire to become an Azure certified developer/architect 
• Help to shape product vision. 

Requirements 

• Experience in B2B/B2C website challenges and familiar with web performance best practices: caching, front end optimisation, load management, geographical distribution, traffic management, building for scale, runtime dependency management, messaging and resiliency 
• A bachelor's in computer science or related, 8 plus years of experience leading/managing software application development. 
• Experience scaling web-based software applications and services. 
• Experience with functional programming concepts & reactive design. 
• Experience with Agile methodology and tools like JIRA. 
• An understanding of how to protect web applications from common security vulnerabilities. 
• Be organised and able to remain productive even when you have multiple deliverables. 
• Experience with .Net, Azure/cloud technologies as well as experience with full-stack web development. 
• Knowledge of at least one front end framework (Vue.js/angular/ember/backbone/react) is a must

Position Title: Software Engineer

The Role: In this role, you will collaborate with tech manager, scrum Master, data analysts, and developers to build technology solutions for Morningstar`s Equity applications. You should have strong understanding of Core Java, JSP, Spring, SQL, Javascript, Component based architectures and create scalable, flexible technical solutions. You would support existing systems, study their enterprise complexities and develop/implement better systems with modern software development practices. Developing good understanding of existing systems on other platforms and its database is a beginning step.

Responsibilities:

-Design & develop web and enterprise solutions to be flexible, scalable & extensible.
-Improve complex data flow, data structures and db design to move to next platform.
-Enforce good agile practices like test driven development, Continuous Integration.
-Hands-on development will be an integral part of the responsibilities.
-Develop areas of continuous and automated deployment.
-Introduce and follow good development practices, innovative frameworks and technology solutions that help business move faster.
-Follow best practices like estimation, planning, reporting and improvement brought to processes in every day work.

-2-4 Years of experience
-Full Stack Developer
-Hands-on in Java-8, Spring Framework, JavaScript
-Knowledge on AWS Services
-knowledge of databases and hands on MS SQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL or NoSQL DB
-Completed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
-Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.

Good to Have: 
AWS Handson experience
Exposure to Capital Market domain preferred (Indexes, Equity etc.)

Responsibilities:

Work on the assigned technical tasks and deliver them within specified timeline
Understand the technical and domain know-how to quickly become a critical team member
Understand and participate in the communication with team members and various stakeholders
Use industry standard to write a quality code and test it using sound unit testing techniques
Ensure the code is reviewed by the peers and corrected for any abnormalities before moving to next stage of software engineering
Participate in daily stand up meetings and update about his assigned tasks
Proactively identify the scope of improvement if any
Learn new technologies and concepts and quick to implement them
