Team or Function Overview
GAF is looking for a Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance team for the manufacturing site in Mt. Vernon, IN (about 20 miles west of Evansville). This site was founded in 1973 and supports the production of high-quality asphaltic shingles and rolled roofing materials.
Summary
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for providing direction, coordination and support for the daily execution of the maintenance department’s operating plan with the primary objective of maintaining the Plant’s equipment and facilities. Manage daily maintenance operations by establishing work practices that optimize machine availability while also balancing costs.
Essential Duties
- Champions the plant's HPM (High Performance Maintenance) plan.
- Develops and maintains a sustainable system for the training and development of Maintenance personnel to meet plant needs and expectations.
- Develops and maintains a sustainable system (workflow) that identifies work, plans jobs, schedules jobs, executes, audits and continuously improves the quality and performance of the work being completed.
- Develops and maintains a sustainable system that prioritizes the plants equipment needs and creates a Failure Defense Plan (FPM) in the event of equipment failure.
- Establishes and administers preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Evaluate and design new equipment systems, and recommend modifications for continuous improvement in an effort to minimize cost, optimize maintenance and production capabilities, and enhance safety. Ensures compliance with all industry and company standard safety practices.
- Manages maintenance budget and departmental performance objectives.
- Directs and coordinates design, construction, and maintenance of equipment and machinery. Coordinate development, submission, and approval of annual capital plan. Establish criteria for capital project scope and scheduling standards.
- Develops, implements and communicates performance evaluation standards.
- Develops and implements succession planning concepts based upon performance of maintenance staff evaluations.
- Champions the Management Operating System (MOS) to provide performance evaluation and feedback.
- Supports safety programs and goals.

Under This Roof, We Require
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
- Willingness to respond to after hour emergencies including weekends and holidays
Under This Roof, We Also Value
- Experience in a high volume manufacturing operation, preferably a continuous process.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (such as Outlook and Excel)or G-Suite
- Customer service or customer technical service experience
- Experience with safety program management including root cause analysis, safe behavior observations and OSHA compliance
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mechanical and electrical industrial systems and controls
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of maintenance best practices such as PM, PdM, RCA, maintenance planning, scheduling, work execution, & feedback systems
- Intermediate to advanced budgeting, accounting, and finance skills
- Intermediate project management
- Advanced analytical and mathematical skills
- Intermediate knowledge of vibration analysis and laser alignment
- Ability to mentor and develop both salary and hourly department team members
- Maximo experience preferred
