Summary :

The Maintenance Manager is a key leadership position for the GAF Gainesville manufacturing plant. The principal areas of responsibility are to provide technical and managerial leadership to the functions of equipment reliability, maintenance planning, and scheduling, maintenance-related EH&S activities, training, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and root cause failure analysis. This role will function as a partner with the Production & Technical groups for all GAF Gainesville production lines, in support of providing world-class maintenance service & OEE. A proactive leadership role is expected in the development and administration of policy and procedures regarding safety, reliability, environmental, and employee issues.

Essential Duties:

• Develop and maintain the plant’s maintenance workflow process (work identification, planning, scheduling, execution, and auditing), Track, analyze and improve maintenance KPIs. Oversee the plant’s storeroom inventory and spare parts processes, assuring critical spares are identified and strategies are in place for critical spares access
• Provide direction & leadership for the plant’s overall maintenance strategy. Leads activities aimed at the improvement of proactive maintenance processes & equipment reliability. Identifies and drafts preventative and predictive maintenance proposals using sound engineering and maintenance principals in order to optimize the plant’s maintenance and equipment reliability strategies.
• Environment, Health, and Safety
  • Conducts safety inspections of work practices & work areas. Facilitates training to identify, prevent, and correct unsafe conditions and practices. Support and facilitate the continued development of the Job Safety Analysis, Standard Operating Procedure and Lockout/Tagout databases
  • Ensure all applicable SOPs and JSAs are updated with all capital processes and/or equipment changes
  • Champion and update as needed the EHS Management Practice sections for the plant Maintenance department responsibilities as defined

• Utilize the MOC (management of change) system for all facility changes that impact EH&S systems
• Participate in HAZOP studies and complete assigned action items
• Partner with FM Global for annual site audit visit
• Lead the PSM system (process safety management)
• Manage the down day planning, prioritization, and execution process by partnering with direct reports in the maintenance dept, Production and Process Engineering. Manage the Plant’s annual shutdown planning and execution. Utilize critical path analysis & deploy resources accordingly to ensure compliance with the asset availability schedule.
• Own the process for providing performance evaluation and feedback to hourly staff, in partnership with the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Coordinator. Develop training plans for maintenance-related improvements, while fostering a positive work environment.
• Serve as a technical advisor in the identification, analysis, and elimination of common-cause downtime and scrap events (both process and equipment related). Provide root cause analysis for all electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical issues that cause extended downtimes (3+ hours). Through the use of continuous improvement, update and sustain both short term and long term maintenance strategies to prevent re-occurrence.
• Develop & maintain the plant’s Maintenance budget and forecast.
• Support the facility’s 3-year Capital plan and ensure maintainability is designed into capital projects. Identify and execute capital projects aimed at the improvement of maintenance-related activities.

• Bachelor degree in Engineering (Preferred Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering)
• 5-10 years demonstrated engineering and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment and 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role

Team or Function Overview

This position will be on the Gainesville, Texas plant operations team, located about miles west of Evansville. This GAF site was founded in 1973 and produces a wide variety of asphaltic shingles and rolled roofing materials.

Summary

As a Production Supervisor, you will partner with your team members and support functions to drive productivity and continuous improvement while prioritizing safety and quality. This position will work a rotating, 12 hour shift schedule, and report to the Production Manager of the asphalt shingle line.

Essential Duties

• Maximize production efficiencies, achieve targeted raw material usages, and minimize yield losses. Troubleshoot and quickly resolve production method or machinery issues that are impacting run rates, downtime, or quality.
• Provide a safe workplace through adherence to company safety policy, housekeeping and defined standards of training. Lead production crew safety meetings. Ensure the production crew is well trained, involved and committed to meeting safety requirements.
• Maintain an excellent quality level of product produced at the lowest cost. Work with production operators to identify and reduce controllable quality issues. Ensure quality checks and checks are completed and review results.
• Provide leadership and direction to the production crew on a daily basis. Ensure production operators receive appropriate training for their positions.
• Provide effective employee feedback to employees and address performance and attendance issues in a timely manner. Maintain accurate timekeeping for production employees and ensure time cards are approved on time.

Team or Function Overview

The Quality Engineer I is responsible for leading the Quality Systems effort at the TPO Plant, including verification of the quality of finished TPO products through testing and other means per the Quality System Manual. This position will report to the TPO Technical Services Manager.

Essential Duties

The primary duties of the Quality Engineer consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide quality-related support to production operators for product changeovers.
• Carry out all specified quality tests on raw materials, in-process samples and finished products, per established Quality Systems Business Plan (QSBP).
• Enter Statistical Process Control (SPC) data and interpret/utilize SPC results as part of day-to-day process control and continuous improvement. Function as WinSPC system administrator.
• Act as the primary plant interface for code audits and other quality systems audits.
• Participate in product quality decisions regarding finished products and third party products, including evaluation of RMA material.
• Participate in process improvement and troubleshooting initiatives directly relating to product quality.
• Participate in root cause analysis as it pertains to scrap and downtime issues in the TPO-making process.
• Understand the TPO manufacturing process and be able to relate finished product defects to process changes.
• Conduct operator training on quality and process related topics to reduce defects.
• Verify and document that all incoming raw materials meet corresponding raw material specifications, and notify the Technical Manager of any out of spec or questionable materials.
• Support plant trials and other corporate development projects as required.
• Manage the quality equipment calibration program. Maintain lab equipment including conducting calibration verifications, ordering routine lab supplies, and conducting basic equipment maintenance.
• Manage the quality Red Tag program.
• Conduct internal compliance audits and process control monitoring per established plans.
• Actively work to keep work areas neat, clean, and organized.

• Consistently demonstrate leadership in the department in the performance of all required job duties without direct supervision, providing guidance to less experienced personnel as needed.
• Comply with all safety regulations and policies (safety glasses, cut gloves, lock out tag out procedures, forklift operation, etc.).
• Assist the TPO team with any production or quality related tasks as directed by the Technical Manager.
