- The incumbent serves as a full deputy and "alter ego" to the Division Director, sharing full responsibility for managing all phases of the Division's work, except for precedential decision making, which is reserved solely for the Director.
- Advises the Director on activities necessary to ensure the successful completion of planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive program management for the DHII portfolio and new model ideation, as applicable.
- Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Reviews work performance of subordinates.
- Serves as a technical expert and advisor to the DHII Director and SPHG leadership on designing and conducting models to test the effectiveness of preventive care models, population health, and special population-focused models.
- Represents the Director at meetings, on task forces, and working groups, internally and externally, as needed, and assembles and directs teams or task forces for the duration of special assignments or projects.
