ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must train and respond to plant emergency issues within the guidelines of the PEO (Plant Emergency Operations).
• Maintain all facilities HVAC and HVAC facilities service and Utility systems in support of 24*7 operation of a high-volume diesel engine manufacturing plant.
• Perform multi-craft tasks associated with HVAC maintenance.
• Oversees and may participate in preventive maintenance and maintenance duties such as filtration system changes, greasing and oiling of motors, gears, etc. 
• Inspect and adjust belts and pulleys.  Replace bearings and perform other building, system and equipment repairs.
• Handle preventive maintenance and equipment downtime situations and procedures.
• Identify the root cause of problems and countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
• Perform repairs to and PM’s on pumps, conveying systems, piping, etc.
• Must lead the daily turnover meetings and make necessary log entries.

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a universal certification required under section 608 of the Clean Air Act from the State Board of Refrigeration Examiners.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Employee will be expected to write routine reports and correspondence and have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. The employee will participate in the development and writing of PM’s and work procedures.

The Mechatronics Junior Apprentice (MJA) will learn to perform the job of a Mechatronics Junior Technician to install, alter, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic, mechanical, computer, control systems and components in a complex fulfillment/distribution center through the completion of a comprehensive classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job learning program. Travel-related expenses, including room and board, during the training will be provided.

Under the supervision of the Launch Program Manager, the Travel Technician will be instrumental in the initial startup, training, and operations of newly acquired sites and improvements to our sustainment sites within the Amazon account.  As a Travel Technician III, you will lead the training of service technicians in the installation and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment. • Subject matter expert in a minimum one of three focus areas Base Building, Amazon Robotics, Material Handling Equipment.
• Teach conveyor systems and troubleshooting for site specific material handling equipment with technicians for our new launch sites.
• Provide support and recommendations to field teams on standard work, complicated repairs, and effective communication with the operational staff.
• Provide support and guidance through troubleshooting during high impact sev events.
• Train and mentor new hires.
• Create and implement audits around preventative maintenance procedures for new sites.
• Teach installation and troubleshooting of relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components, photo-eyes, motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, etc.
• Create reports to communicate work orders with data including labor hours, equipment maintenance and parts used.
• Lead and manage equipment inspections and escalate issues to client.
• Maintain a positive working relationship across all facilities within the account
• Develop training plans for service technicians
• Develop work plans for emergency repair of critical assets

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience working with automated conveyors and controls
• 5+ years of experience with electrical and electronic principles, National Electrical Code (NEC), and industrial electronics
• 5+ years of experience conducting preventative maintenance
• 5 + years of experience reading blueprints and schematics
• 5 + years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs
• 3+ years of work order management
• Ability to travel nationwide 90% 2-3 weeks at a time
• Subject Matter expert in either Material handling equipment, Amazon Robotics, base building maintenance.

About the Role:

As a Control Systems Lead, you will lead service technicians on the team with maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying Material Handling (MHE) controls systems equipment to ensure operational performance. You will support the Operations Maintenance team by designing solutions for difficult problems and managing projects. You will help train, and mentor service technicians and contract technicians.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures
• Troubleshoot and modify software programs for material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, Allen Bradley Controllogix and Compactlogix PLC platform utilizing RSLogix 5000 software package. Including Industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems.
• Act as first level escalation support for the control system technician teams. Appropriately escalate downtime situations to vendors or headquarters for support to restore equipment operation.
• Apply subject matter expertise in material handling and electronic control systems to maximize building utilization of systems
• Monitor MHE metrics and partner with Controls Technicians and Mechanics to resolve equipment electrical problems that create performance deficiencies. Perform controls systems assessments to maintain and improve equipment reliability
• Partner with Facility Operations leadership, equipment vendors and parts suppliers to plan and coordinate new technology installations. Acting as the technical consultant for capital projects inside the building
• Communicate technical issues and project timelines with building leadership, operations and the maintenance team.  Explain production impacts and work closely with operations and engineering to ensure a thorough understanding of impact to systems
• Develop training plans for Control Systems Technicians

Basic Qualifications:

• Associates degree with a focus in in Electronic Technology or equivalent experience 
• 5+ years of experience with Motor Controls (motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components) 
• 5+ years of experience with programming HMI components
• 5+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs
• 5+ year of experience with Robotics system components and controls
• 3+ years with SCADA systems and KPI's
• Experiencing interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings
