We are seeking a Manager, Intellectual Property Operations who will manage the IP Ops function at BD. The position will report to the VP, Legal Operations, and be responsible for optimizing IP services, driving IP projects and managing IP systems and processes, while working collaboratively with global IP professionals, outside counsel, BD legal operations colleagues, and legal operations vendors.  This role is critical in ensuring that the IP team is innovating, improving, and handling IP matters efficiently and effectively.  We are looking for a motivated self-starter, who can think creatively about challenging issues, is passionate about problem solving, and can use analytical expertise to proactively drive solutions.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for management of Anaqua IP Management System, including maintaining data integrity, developing and maintaining reports in the HyperView environment, and supervising, coordinating, monitoring, and programming processes within Anaqua

• Direct day to day tasks of two Legal Operations Specialists

• Plan and execute IP team projects working with cross-functional associates and external partners to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the IP team

• Design and implement best practices and continuously improve procedures and systems to support IP team strategic goals and objectives

• Drive design, implementation and maintenance of IP docketing policies, guidelines, processes, forms and associated projects in collaboration with IP professionals

• Collaborate with legal operations colleagues on law department processes including billing

• Enforce outside counsel compliance with BD docketing and billing procedures

• Develop and implement user training, including user guides for BD associates and outside counsel

• Ensure implementation of substantive law and rule changes

• As needed, assist Legal Operations Specialists with their day-to-day tasks, e.g., in view of vacation, workloads, volume, etc.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree, or paralegal certificate with significant relevant experience

• At least 5 years of experience across areas detailed under Qualifications.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience using, managing and programming IP management/docketing software (Anaqua strongly preferred), as well as managing and using billing systems

• Experience with document management systems and USPTO sites including PAIR and TSDR

• Strong process and project management skills

• Experience in a large in-house IP department or law firm, handling a large volume of patent preparation and prosecution matters

• Knowledge of patent and trademark lifecycle and processes from invention through maintenance

•  Experience developing legal operations processes and documentation

• Experience with managing data quality and integrity, monitoring metrics and developing reports

• Proven leadership experience, with demonstrated inter-personal skills and the ability to teach and coach, and work within multiple teams

• Demonstrated success in managing organizational and process change

• Demonstrated problem solving skills with an ability to identify issues, develop creative solutions and learn quickly

• High proficiency in database management, software, and technology and the efficient use and programming of software and technology for organization, reporting and automating processes

• Highly organized and self-directed, with ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks

• High proficiency in computer skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Adobe

• Strong strategic thinking with excellent written and verbal communication skills

In collaboration with NA Region leaders and the Corporate Communications team, the Senior Manager, NA Region Communications will ensure internal communications strategies are designed and executed to progress agreed business objectives with associates, and drive growth and integration activities across the region. This person will be responsible for enhancing internal communications tools and channels that effectively engage sales leaders and field-based associates throughout the country as well as the broader region associate base, while conducting ongoing measurement of content and channels to inform future approaches.   

Directly reporting to the Senior Director HR, and a dotted line to Corporate Communications,  the Senior Manager, Communications will lead multiple integrated communications projects and initiatives that will require collaboration across other areas of the business, often with competing priorities, tight timelines, and limited budget.

This person is a thinker and a doer who can create a strategy as well as execute, with strong writing skills across channels and a track record of performance in a matrixed environment that requires cross-functional coordination.

Primary Responsibilities

• As the lead NA Region communicator, manage all communications for the President of the North America Region including employee engagement communications through a variety of unique vehicles and approaches, customer communications and presentations, and social media content for personal and company channels, i.e. intranet, LinkedIn, etc.

• Create regional message tracks and content in support of relevant content pillars that align with and complement BD corporate and BU-specific messages and themes. Internally promote regional accomplishments and progress against key initiatives through a variety of creative communication channels that increase associate awareness of the NA Region, drive regional senior leader visibility, underscore the region’s role within BD and importance of BD to customer success, and highlight the evolution of the team to increase pride among associates and build BD’s culture in the region.

• Align NA Region communications plans and tactics with Corporate Communications to ensure alignment and consistency of messages with broader company goals and other corporate plans, while also providing NA Regional content for amplification in broader companywide and segment-specific communication. The Corporate Communications team is a key partner and stakeholder for this role as part of enterprise initiatives to drive understanding of progress against BD 2025 plans.

• Identify the correct channels and channel strategy for regional communications vis a vis existing cadence of corporate, business unit, customer/marketing and segment channels and messages. Ensure the appropriate application of corporate messages for resonance with the regional audience.

• Consistently track and measure effectiveness of regional communication efforts to inform future content and communication approaches.

• Ensure coordination with and build strong relationships across HR, communications, HR, IDE, marketing, businesses and functions.

• Lead the communications development for strategic presentations, coordinating with other commercial stakeholders, aligning to corporate branding guidelines and working with third parties

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree required – preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field. Advanced degree is a plus.

• 5+ years of relevant professional corporate communications experience with substantial experience working in internal/external communications for a publicly traded health care company, highly regulated industry, or major global brand. 

• Proven ability to create and execute an integrated regional specific internal and external communications strategy while working closely with corporate communications colleagues and a variety of disciplines in communications and across a matrixed company.

• Experience leading internal communications programs, employee engagement initiatives and leadership communications about key business updates, including message development, content management and strategic internal communications approaches.

• Ability to develop external digital content specific to the NA Region for executive channels, as well as overall company channels, and manage regional external campaigns and messages. Experience customizing content and creating clear direction for content pillars and channels.

• Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and presentation capabilities in a corporate environment and strong executive presence and the highest levels of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

• Flexible outlook and mindset that is energized by working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, take initiative and act independently, and work under tight deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage requests for and provide advice and guidance to HR and people leaders on policies, practices, and employment matters, such as terminations, investigations, disability accommodations, performance management and RIFs/reorganizations, to achieve business objectives and effectively assess and manage risk

• Draft, review and/or revise employment-related documents, such as corrective action, performance, and termination documentation, separation and other agreements, HR policies, etc.

• Case management for employment-related lawsuits, charges, and claims, including coordinating with in-house and outside counsel, conducting initial fact gathering, implementing, maintaining and closing out litigation holds, identifying and gathering responsive documents and information, scheduling and participating in witness interviews, reviewing discovery, pleadings, and other case documentation, and facilitating the initiation and completion of internal processes for settlement/resolution of claims

• Analyze and report on outside spend, budgets, and claims metrics

• Analyze and respond to employment-related third-party subpoenas and other requests for records, including identifying and gathering responsive documents and information

• Conduct or coordinate research on employment law/HR issues (e.g., non-competition agreements, wage and hour questions, leaves/accommodations) and formulate practical, business-oriented recommendations

• Monitor trends in employment law/HR compliance and identify, develop and coordinate opportunities to improve employment-related policies and practices, including policy updates, audits, and training

• Support cross-functional projects as an employment law/compliance resource

• Act as a resource to other functions (HR, Finance, IT, etc.) and business units on legal policies/procedures, as necessary

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Paralegal and/or HR certifications preferred

• Juris Doctorate degree a plus

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

·       4+ years of relevant employment law, employee relations and/or HR compliance experience in a law firm environment and/or in-house legal providing advice on employment law issues

·       Experience managing lawsuits, charges, and claims (i.e., litigation holds, document collection and review, discovery, outside counsel management).

·       Experience in employment law/HR compliance matters (i.e., wage and hour practices, leaves and accommodations, background checks, worker classification, performance management) a plus.

The BD marketing function is in a truly transformational period and transformation requires excellent change management and communications. The Sr. Marketing Communications and Program Manager, Corporate Marketing reports directly to the Vice President, Corporate Marketing, but dotted lines to the whole of the OCMO Leadership Team to ensure all OCMP projects and initiatives are reflected in our communications and management. 

Summary

The Sr Marketing Communications and Program Manager, Corporate Marketing partners with the CMO and OCMO Leadership Team to develop and execute the communication and change management strategies to support our strategic imperatives and needle movers. This leader is a thought partner to the OCMO bringing new concepts and ideas to drive marketing excellence by being tuned-in to the CMO office and the strategic direction the team is driving as well as keeping a pulse on what is happening in the macro-marketing world.  This team member challenges the organization to set the standard for disseminating messages, driving initiatives and imperatives to engage the marketing function in growth. They are also advanced project managers to help keep our initiatives on track and drive the logistics that make our communications flawless.  

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following: 

• Develop and execute the communication and change management strategy, supporting the strategic initiatives of the OCMO.  This includes but is not limited to:

• Creates and drives communications to the broad marketing community from the CMO or on behalf of the OCMO, the OCMO LT or the Marketing Leadership Team

• Listening, interpreting, collaborating and building content for the OCMO LT to communicate progress on key initiatives to targeted audiences (ie: EXLT, President’s Council and the broader marketing community)

• Measures and tracks progress against strategies to ensure change efforts embedding across organization

• Drive and manage the annual global marketing excellence awards program and global marketing meeting:

• Develop and execute the communication strategy and calendar to support to support the event objectives

• Collaborate with the marketing community to drive the right content aligned with the corporate, marketing and meeting strategy

• Manage all pre- and post-communications supporting the marketing award and GMM process

• Create and post daily meeting highlights

• Manage and summarize meeting feedback for continuous improvement

• Develop and post meeting content on the BD Way of Marketing Maxwell site

• Manage and coordinate quarterly global marketing town hall and annual global marketing meetings to deliver the key messages and timely content:

• Developing a motivating and compelling agenda in coordination with all OCMO LT teams

• Coordinating and scheduling the speakers and their content, including rehearsals

• Partnering with stakeholders to manage logistics and details of meetings to ensure meetings, large or small, run smoothly for speakers and attendees

• Working with IT to manage the live broadcast and video replay

• Managing the Q&A

• Creating pre- and post-meeting communications

• Maintaining event content on the BD Way of Marketing Maxwell site

• Project manage and drive communications for key OCMO initiatives aligned to our strategic imperatives and function needle movers, as requested, to ensure deadlines and outcomes met

  • Drives the details of the strategic programs to support the sponsors and team captains ensuring actions are documented, driven to completion and results achieved.

  • Works with team captains and sponsors to move coordinate stakeholders that support these big programs

  • Translates the results achieved and key learnings into a communications strategy that supports the change management we are trying to drive as an office.

• Develop/leverage multiple channels to engage marketing employees and enhance two-way communication

• Track and communicate the latest trends in marketing and formulates ideas on how we incorporate at BD

• Knowledge of change management fundamentals.  Change management certification is a plus

• Proven experience in a team development environment and working on cross-functional teams

• Participates in trade shows to promote the company’s product line, educate potential and existing customers in the medical community.

Requirements

• BA or BS degree.

• 3 - 5 proven years of sales experience, or comparable experience outside of BD.

• Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrable selling skills.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

• Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued license driver’s license with 3 years of consecutive driving history and meet BD’s auto safety standards’.

Senior Manager – Payer Relations, Market Access (PRMA) – BD Interventional

The Senior Manager – Payer Relations, Market Access (PRMA) is a very important customer-facing role that will work closely with the Senior Director, Market Access and Payment Policy to focus on the priority payer engagement needs of BD’s Surgery, Peripheral Intervention and Urology and Critical Care businesses, which sit within BD’s Interventional Segment. The Senior Manager is required to establish new or revise existing coverage policies leading to enhanced market access for priority products within BD’s Interventional portfolio. The Senior Manager is the key contact responsible for local market access and payer relations related matters across the U.S. and will have responsibility for leading the engagement and building relationships with identified regional payers (both public and private). In addition, this role will partner with the commercial teams around key opinion leader development, and customer engagement strategies to remove any reimbursement barriers to product adoption. This position will be field based (flexible location near a major airport).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The Sr. Manager, PRMA, will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the access and coverage landscape for priority products and communicate and explain to internal partners payer policy updates or system changes that impact product market access in assigned payer accounts.

• Partner with Market Access and Marketing leaders within our Interventional (BDI) businesses to build strategic market access and reimbursement strategy and tools based on segment/franchise business objectives that will result in expanding favorable reimbursement positions for BD products. Focus on gaining coverage/adoption of key technologies with regional commercial health plans, and State Medicaid Agencies

• Work cross functionally with key account teams and regional sales leadership in assigned areas to build alliances with key leaders with vision for targeted payer engagements, address any practice or facility specific reimbursement challenges and identify areas of partnership supporting current and future BD products

• Develop working relationships with state societies, associations, and industry groups, as needed, to support patient access and raise overall awareness of BD's products

• Ensure appropriate, compliant execution of the Market Access strategy covering the launch of any future products; specifically, field implementation of HUB services at customer accounts

• Exercise sound judgment and oversight to ensure integrity and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as corporate policies in all activities and communication

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

• BA/BS degree required

Job Summary

The Oncology Vascular Access Territory Manager will sell the HD Safety product portfolio as well as Infection Prevention product portfolio to Acute Care facilities and Oncology/Infusion Centers.  The territory manager is a highly proficient sales performer with experienced level of knowledge regarding Hazardous Drug Safety space and experience with Infection prevention. This person will work closely with their Regional Manager to identify targets and to implement effective selling strategies that foster a sales performance crafted to achieve their territory sales budget. They understand the importance of implementing existing national and local contracts by using pricing strategies to drive sales by collaborating with National Accounts and Business Integrators as appropriate.  They also work collaboratively with Infusion, Surgical and Access teams to enhance relationships they have in areas of the hospital to expand chemo safety penetration, infection prevention and identify new account opportunities. Conversely, the relationships developed in pharmacy and oncology can be used to create opportunities to increase the Infusion team product sales growth. The OVC TM will work with Strategic Account Managers, the One Company resource to cultivate positive relationships with key clinical and economic decision makers in key Large Accounts and IDNs.

Division Description:

• The BD Interventional Surgery Division offers a broad range of infection prevention and biosurgical products, including ChloraPrep skin prep, Arista Absorbable Hemostat, and Progel Air Leak Sealant.

The Associate Territory Manager (ATM) is primarily responsible for providing field level support to physicians and other clinical professionals for the Interventional Surgery division.  Working closely with field sales and Marketing, the ATM will execute field level surgical case support and professional training plans that help achieve annual sales targets. This includes 80% travel using extended stays in a field based territory to build strong and lasting customer relationships.  Customers include physicians, nurses, technicians, administrators, office staff, sales personnel and other hospital personnel.  If successful, this role will eventually lead to formal territory responsibility as a Territory Manager.  Associate Territory Managers must be open to relocation anywhere in the U.S. to assume responsibility for an open territory. 

Position Responsibilities:

The Associate Territory Manager will be responsible for supporting BD’s Infection Prevention and Biosurgery products with physicians, clinicians, materials management and other key decision makers.  Other responsibilities include:

• Coordinates with field sales, the logistics, timing, duration, strategy and execution of field level customer training and technical support of clinical cases

• Works with sales management in prioritizing targeted customers, cases and training events

• Supports the development of regional physician proctors to help with formal and informal training activities

• Conducts training and in-servicing for hospital surgery staff and support personnel

• Supports the development of regional centers of excellence and works with Marketing on the execution of territory physician training seminars

• Provides support for regional marketing events, conventions and symposia

• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

• Maintains equipment, advertising, and promotional matter in a presentable and orderly manner

• Completes all paperwork on time and thoroughly; Keeps accurate up-to date account records; Utilizes sales funnel to set goals and target accounts

• Proper use of productive selling time; i.e., calls in late afternoon with a minimum of three O.R.s per day and four surgeon contacts per day.  Doctors not available at the hospital will be contacted in their office

• Acquires comprehensive knowledge of prices, discounts, availability of each product and competition according to quality and quantity

• Maintains adequate supply of promotional tools (samples, brochures, videos)

• Must have all basic product knowledge and acquire knowledge of all new products added to the line and apply this knowledge to adequately conduct in-service education to all hospitals

• Stays within expense budget

• Knows and effectively uses selling presentations as well as standard answers to objections

• Continually increases knowledge of trends (business, technological, sociological), sales skills, promotion techniques, information on new product, and sales forecasting

• Maintains relationships with the District Manager, Territory Managers, and customers

• Plans sales calls on a continuous basis and organizes time for effective coverage of the territory.  A daily written plan is to be used

• Develops thorough knowledge of company policies and the ability to interpret them to customers and prospects

• Maintains the company car in a clean, orderly, and serviceable condition

• Uses to the best advantage nurses lectures, journal club meetings, local seminars, resident lectures, hospital displays and evaluation committee product presentations

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in related discipline

• 1-2 years general sales experience preferred

• Experience working in a team environment, particularly with sales people

• The ability to work in an operating room environment is required

• Strong interpersonal, oral, communication, organizational and planning skills

• Good judgment and maturity

• Willing to relocate to fill an open Territory Manager position.

• Ability to travel 80%, including overnight travel

• Must possess and maintain a valid drivers’ license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company

The Project Manager is an Intermediate level Core Team Leader, driving a team of functional professionals from multiple functions, regions and external partners. They have overall accountability for project planning and execution, leading up to successful launch and commercial success. Qualifications:

Education:

Key Responsibilities:

• Acts as the marketing core team lead on key cross-functional projects to maximize gross profit, increase penetration, and optimize our competitive and Go To Market approaches and efforts

• Acts as a global marketing lead for key regions, ensuring achievement of business targets and facilitating market development efforts within regions

• Leads the development of a market assessment, business case and go to market strategies to enter the non-acute / home health care segment; a segment anticipated to drive significant incremental revenue growth in the next 5+ years for the Catheter Care Platform

Required knowledge and experience   

• Minimum of 3 years of business experience in the life science industry

• Minimum of 3 years in product and/or market management

• Business experience may include marketing, sales, sales training, business development

• Minimum: bachelor’s degree, MBA highly preferred

• Experience in Market Planning, Competitive Analysis, Pricing Strategy, Customer Insights/Analytics, Market Opportunity Assessment and Segmentation, and Go to Market and Commercialization strategies

• Demonstrated strategic thinking and implementation skills; proven analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable marketing and business strategies and plans
