The primary purpose of this position is: To perform aircraft structural maintenance and support equipment repair for tasks associated with the planning, laying out, fabricating, modifying, repairing, assembling, corrosion control, specialized coatings, advanced composites, tubing, and installing sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies and to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks herein.

Responsibilities:
1: IAW technical data and standards: Plans and lays out work from engineering data, blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the repair, coating, or manufacture of aircraft structural components and support equipment.

2: IAW technical data and standards: Develops patterns, molds, cuts, forms, joins, assembles, and installs items and systems which have combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles, and planes.

3: Operates, cleans, maintains, and accounts for all hand, power tools and equipment, such as slip roll forming machines, box and pan brakes, beading and tubing machines to fabricate and repair items. Utilizes safety practices, Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and AF Environmental Compliance Assessment Management Program (ECAMP) environmental protection practices and procedures and complies with security regulations, directives and policies.

4: Inspects, prepares aircraft and support equipment surfaces and applies a variety of chemical compounds, protective and specialized coatings to a variety of materials, such as sheet metal, radomes, and composites then correctly disposes of hazardous waste products.

5: Repairs, modifies, and manufactures fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite/metal structural components that have contours that must be reestablished or that require the manufacture of a mold using the available part or pattern. Prepares effective training plans to maximize Reserve training.

Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to the following:

• Daily responsibilities include collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS).
• Perform a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
• Collate in-coming data from a variety of sources. Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
• Enter pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
• Receive DSS extracts to verify that the workload being captured in DSS is correct.
• Maintain automated system of program- specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.
• Interact with various other transportation services such as Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) etc., and other transportation providers.
• Coordinate service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas.
• Plan consult processing flow to ensure veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner.
• Utilize the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations.
• Provide procedural support in administering quality monitors to be utilized in the internal consultation process to measure the success of efforts to provide seamless care and to support the education of staff in the proper use of the electronic record, to include internal consultation processes.
• Coordinate service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas.

The purpose of this position is to supervise workers on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders, in accomplishing the work operations of the organizational segment or work shift and to perform associated nonsupervisory work. The occupation and grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10.

b. DUTIES:

(1) Planning: Plans and schedules specific work assignments on a daily or project-to-project basis within specified time requirements. Arranges for adequate personnel, materials and equipment to accomplish the work.

(2) Work Direction: Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains prescribed methods and procedures; instructs subordinates on new procedures and provides assistance on problems. Reviews work in progress and oncompletion. Obtains approval from supervisor for changes in standard or prescribed procedures and changes in work operations. Suggests ways or methods to improve operations or reduce costs.

(3) Administration: Recommends individuals to fill vacancies or for promotion or reassignment. Assists in the establishment of performance standards and makes recommendations for performance appraisals. Counsels with employees on disciplinary issues and recommends disciplinary action. Attempts to resolve informal complaints and grievances, referring unresolved or more serious issues to supervisor. Conducts on-the-job training and recommends employees for formal training programs. Schedules leave and approves leave for short periods of time. Encourages employees to participate in suggestion or cost reduction programs. Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed with appropriate protective clothing and equipment being utilized. Explains and implements such personnel programs as equal opportunity, position management, position description review, and labor relations. Maintains production reports and records.

(4) Performs the nonsupervisory functions of the organizational segment supervised.

(5) Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. (6) Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/ crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operator, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

(7) Performs other duties as assigned.

The MST decontaminates, sterilizes instruments, medical supplies, and equipment. Assembles, wraps, and sterilizes trays of instruments.

• Follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization trays. Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment. Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment making them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner.
• Restocks, labels, maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects, and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment. Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, operating room, and equipment storage areas.
• Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment. Maintains a clean work area.
• Assists in maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, medical conditions, and procedures. Uses a computerized instrument tracking system in the performance of assigned duties, obtaining count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation documenting sterilization loads, and other assigned task.

The Operational Safety Analyst performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist within the Integrated Safety Teams Branch (AVP-420), in the Integrated Safety Outreach and Support Division. Performs analytical activities to support the implementation of key agency safety data sharing initiatives to advance aviation safety in the National Airspace System (NAS).

As a contributing specialist, conducts research, investigates incidents, and analyzing data. Participates on large work activities to provide assistance and support of Safety Management System (SMS) methodologies. Supports safety initiatives by analyzing and gathering data to identify risks and trends, compiling information to support the creation of mitigation strategies, and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented measures. Presents data and findings to senior analysts and safety teams to use in developing solutions to address or prevent safety concerns. Ensures that safety practices and procedures comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

Applies experience and advanced knowledge of safety principles and analytical methods and techniques to accomplish assignments and to develop plans and techniques to improve programs and policies. Understands how technical aspects interact with or is affected by other disciplines and considers the objectives of the AVP and Aviation Safety (AVS) when developing, integrating, and implementing solutions to diverse, complex problems. Presents briefings to communicate safety policies to broad audiences of aviation safety professionals and supports and participates in national and international forums convened to strengthen and advance aviation safety. Plays a lead role in drafting, reviewing, and editing reports or contractual documents for final approval prior to external distribution.
