Responsibilities
The Chief Ops Officer (COO) for Supply Chain APAC will be responsible for driving operations excellence processes relating to execution of key programs and continuous improvement at the sites ensuring the maximization of profits at both country and regional level. This role requires a strategic leader to set the direction and drive synergies for end-to-end supply chain operations ensuring the safety of our people, data and goods.
As a member of the APAC Management Board and Global Operations Board, you will deliver the APAC operations strategy contributing to the overall regional business strategy in line with regional business vision and objectives, corporate guidelines and policies.
The role will lead the Operations Excellence (OE) teams in APAC to ensure efficiency and performance in accordance with the Operations Excellence (OE) agenda.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing Operations Excellence team across the APAC region in the areas of Safety, Security, Sustainability, Quality, Trade Compliance, Operations Management Systems First Choice, Project Delivery, Operational Labor Flexibility and Innovation
- Providing strategic input as a member of the APAC Management Board and Global Operations Board, driving synergies across business functions
- Oversee site based startups as well as site and facility closures plus the evaluation of operational aspects aligned to new business tenders, proposals, mergers and acquisitions opportunities
- Understand and anticipate changes/ growth in region’s business volumes and operational requirements, evolve operational capacities to profitably deliver logistics services
- Introduce and embed world class operations by using Operations Management System (OMS) First Choice and supply chain practices at the regional level
- Ensure Safety for our employees in APAC including rollout of Safety First Framework and full investigation on fatalities, injuries etc
- Lead the security function and ensure security for all of sites in 13 countries
- Rollout of the Sustainability programs incl. Carbon reduction
- Drive for Quality in Supply Chain – execution of our quality framework
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Develop strong, trusting relationships with senior business leaders across DHL Group and partner organizations
- Influence others across DHL Group and externally as an internally and externally recognized thought leader representing the Group
Management Responsibility
- Lead & mentor multiple teams of executives, directors/senior managers, and managers
- Ensure appropriate talent selection, organization and leadership for major areas of the organization
Requirements
Experience of working in a matrix organization and leading cultural change and transformation are critical to succeed in this role.
- University degree / MBA
- Proven experience in change management/transformation and in managing large-scale supply chain operations in the APAC region, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven track record in establishing and implementation of OpsEx strategies with long-term impact on business results in alignment with global divisional objectives and directly impacting the organization’s business strategy is a must
- Demonstrated ability to manage P&L
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities
- Familiar with supply chain management software and technologies
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional APAC languages is a plus
