An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical research nurse to join the Academic Vascular Surgical Unit (AVSU), based at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. The main aim of this post is to facilitate and support recruitment to a growing research portfolio of both academic and commercial studies. The post is for 12 months. Working closely within a team of nurses and other researchers, the job will involve coordinating and supporting a number of studies. Trial-specific training will be given. This post is a part of the NIHR Aberdeen Health Determinants Research Collaboration (AHDRC). The NIHR Aberdeen Health Determinants Research Collaboration is funded initially for 5 years by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, with the aim of supporting Aberdeen City Council to develop a research active culture to help improve the health and well-being for Aberdeen’s communities. Lead by Aberdeen City Council, the AHDRC’s key partners are the University of Aberdeen, NHS Grampian, Robert Gordon University. This post will receive academic support and supervision from the University of Aberdeens’s Health Economics Research Unit and the Health Services Research Unit, and be part of a wider interdisciplinary team who will drive forward the AHDRC’s aims. The NIHR Aberdeen Health Determinants Research Collaboration is funded initially for 5 years by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, with the aim of supporting Aberdeen City Council to develop a research active culture to help improve the health and well-being for Aberdeen’s communities. Lead by Aberdeen City Council, the AHDRC’s key partners are the University of Aberdeen, NHS Grampian, Robert Gordon University. Role and Responsibilities:
*To plan, develop and deliver high quality lessons using a variety of approaches, to continually enhance teaching and learning
*To monitor student progress, keeping student records that include assessment outcomes and targets set at regular intervals in line with Academy policy, to enable all students to achieve their full potential.
*Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people with regard to Every Child Matters agenda and Area Child Protection Procedures.
*Ensure continuity, progression and cohesiveness in all teaching.
*Set homework regularly, (in accordance with the Academy homework policy), to consolidate and extend learning and encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning
*Track student progress, monitoring achievement against targets set, and take appropriate action on student outcomes.
*Be a role model to students through personal presentation and professional conduct.

Requirements:
*Bachelor's degree in Science or any other related field.
*Teaching certification or relevant teaching qualifications.
*Proven experience of teaching Science at the secondary or higher education level.
*Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Your new role
Southend Council are looking to appoint a full-time, experienced Commissioning & Research Officer within a 12-month fixed term capacity, to help transform and modernise care and support in Southend.You will co-produce change with people who need support along with their friends, families, and the residents of Southend. You will be accountable for the delivery of outcomes by developing a deep understanding of population needs and service outcomes as well as creating strategies to meet them.

The integrated Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) service within department of Gastroenterology is offering an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic nurse to contribute to join a team of two IBD research nurses, two IBD clinical trials managers and three IBD research fellows to further develop research in the IBD service. This will include participation in a number of clinical research projects requiring expertise (with suitable training provided if needed) in multiple aspects of research, ranging from patient visits in outpatients, endoscopy and ward environments to computer-office-based work.



The post will be within the Gastroenterology department based at the Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospitals, but the work will sometimes require travel to other partner organisations of the NHS Humber Health Partnership such as the other hospital sites in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole, primary care settings and other Trusts in the Yorkshire region. You would be expected to undertake a period of orientation undertaking competencies in relation to clinical practice in IBD clinical research. Prior research experience and exposure to gastrointestinal problems are desirable but not essential as appropriate training and mentorship will be provided.



The post holder will have continuing responsibility for assessing and meeting the needs of patients and their carers in relation to their involvement in research trials. You will ensure that participants are advised on all aspects of their involvement in research trials, including screening, identification, informed consent, data confidentiality and protection, clinical management, drug administration and maintaining patient safety through the reporting of adverse events.

In all respects, the post holder must act within the accordance of the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct, the Research Governance Framework for Health and Social care and the appropriate quality standards for each trial.

This position requires the post holder to be enthusiastic, innovative and motivated with a willingness and ability to adapt to the team’s needs. The post holder must be able work independently on the roles delegated by the principal investigator , but also work well within a team, communicating and coordinating their work effectively in order to help achieve departmental objectives.

The IBD Service Lead Professor S Sebastian will supervise you both clinically and in research, you will be line-managed by the Trusts Research, Development & Innovation Matron and provided with day to day expert clinical support from the lead IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist, IBD Research Nurses and IBD Trial Managers.
