Ground Science is currently seeking an Environmental Consultant to join our growing company. The full-time position will involve working on various contaminated land and soil science projects. Some experience with field sampling is preferred but recent Graduate applications are also encouraged.
Qualifications and experience
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Environmental Science or a related field.
• Additional relevant experience or on-the-job training may be required alongside formal qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and practices.
• At least one year of highly relevant post-qualification work experience in environmental consulting (within the last five years).
• Specialisation in any of the following areas is a plus: Marine Biology, Zoology, Geophysics, Environmental Chemistry, Geography/Geology, Agricultural Engineering, or Spatial Science.
Task and responsibilities
• Conducting environmental impact assessments for various development projects, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and environmental standards.
• Developing and recommending strategies to mitigate negative environmental impacts and promote sustainability.
• Assessing the effects of factors like climate, human activity, and terrain on ecosystems, plants, and wildlife.
• Evaluating environmental samples (water, soil, air) and analysing pollution, air quality, and other environmental conditions.
• Creating and implementing conservation policies to protect natural resources and cultural heritage, with a focus on biological resource management.
• Advising clients across industries, government bodies, and the public on environmental matters, including the safe management of hazardous materials.
• Assisting in the development of policies, strategies, and best practices for environmental management.
• Participating in environmental audits and responding to emergencies, such as chemical spills or other environmental incidents.
• Providing expert guidance and environmental data to support decision-making in planning, conservation, and sustainable development initiatives.
